Growing up, my family and I lived in Mexico. I lived there for approximately 10 years in a small town of the state of Durango; I remember all the struggles my mom had to make for us to come to the U.S. We used to make frequent trips to the border of Ciudad Juarez to obtain our residency in the U.S., it was a hassle but we finally were residents of the U.S! Back then; I didn’t realize the importance and the sacrifices we made to move to Chicago. I begged my mom not to take me here; I didn’t want to leave my family and friends behind to travel here. My sister and I learned English, so the sacrifices we made were worth it. I finished middle school, and I was really proud of myself because my English was improving a lot. Then, while I was in high school, I discovered my passion. I was curious about dealing with numbers, as I looked into the subject more, I found out that I love to read and know more about finances, stocks, taxes, etc. I’m a problem solver. This was the time that I knew that a career in Accounting would be perfect for me. I realized that I had a plan to follow, it also got me thinking that if I had stayed in Mexico, there was no way I could become what I wanted, because over there we don’t have the resources available. I thank my parents for everything that they done for my sister and I, They gave us an opportunity that many people don’t have. I will always thank them for that. As time passed, my family and I thought about quitting everything and going back to Mexico many times because we were struggling financially. We had made it this far, why should we leave everything that we had accomplished behind? We didn’t quit and continued going forward, and thankfully we solved the problems we
