Gabon Located in the western coastal region of the Central Africa, Gabon is one of the most prosperous countries in the sub-Saharan Africa as a result of abundant petroleum resources and foreign private investments. In 2012 the Real GDP growth rate is 5.7 %, estimated for 2013 is 5.5 % and the projection for2014 and 2015 is around 6.7 % and 7.2 % respectively. • The World Bank report Doing Business 2014 ranks Gabon 163rd out of 189 economies, 7 places better than in 2013 (170th). Gabon scored particularly well on three criteria of the report: starting a business, dealing with construction permits and paying taxes. • The Political Institutions are relatively stable. Gabon's major mining operations include : Gabon is a major petroleum producer, with crude oil accounting for 80% of Gabon’s exports as well as two thirds of the state’s revenue. Gabon is the world’s second largest manganese dioxide producer, and also has the potential to produce up to 15% of global niobium from a developing mine near Mabounie. Gabon also produces minor gold, uranium and diamonds. Uranium production has all but ceased in Gabon, due to ore reserve depletion. Country related risks: • High rate of
