The World Trade Center: The world trade center was a series of several building in New York City. The buildings were used for businesses included in international trade. At the time they were built, the Twin Towers were the two tallest buildings in the world. It took a total of 8 years to build the towers and over 10,000 people were involved in the creation. The building opened in 1970 and attracted tourists from all over the world due to how unique and tall they were. What Is 9/11? 9/11 was a series of terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001. 19 Al Quida terrorists hijacked 4 airplanes using box cutters, knives and claimed to have bombs. He used 9/11 to involve America in wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, as the American public demanded an aggressive, tough response to 9/11. This won the American public back for Bush (and there was a strong anti-Islamic sentiment after 9/11), though in fairness as the war dragged on and was very costly with no end to the conflicts in sight the public again grew weary of Bush. The result was that it opened the door for a Democratic President (Obama) to win the next two consecutive elections covering the next eight years. As Donald Trump ran against Clinton, he was well aware that the last Republican President (Bush) had built his popularity largely on anti-Islamic feelings in America. And with current conflicts with ISIS and terrorism on the minds of Americans, Trump was careful to fan the flames of anti-Islamic rhetoric (he's promised to cut back the number of Muslim immigrants allowed into the US and possibly force many American Muslims to register with the police as potentially dangerous offenders). Thus the events of 9/11 continue to shape American politics today in the policies of Donald Trump. And it begs the question, how truly free and democratic is America (the leader of democracy, if it is willing to take steps to restrict the freedom and equality of its citizens
