Introduction
When people ask about my three year old little brother I describe him as smart, quiet, and in his own little world. When James was about one and a half he was saying a few words and seem to be progressing fine and then he stopped. Now at three he still says a few words, unlike other children at his age who would normally be saying full sentences. He is totally obsessed with cars and has hundreds that he lines up in our living room. Another big thing I noticed was that he does not respond to his name.

Autism has an effect on not only the person themselves but on the family as well. Not being able to communicate what they want and need is extremely frustrating which can cause children to lash out and throw temper tantrums that could be aggressive. In return creates stress on family members. Many parents relationships struggle because they have all their focus on their child. This can lead to siblings being left out and not getting enough attention from their parents. The family will have to learn and work with them to figure out how to get through their differences. ASD is not all bad though. Children with autism can live in their own world and get to share that with their family.
Early intervention
Parents usually notice a problem in their child's development early on. Studies have shown that in the first six month differences in social, communication, and fine motor skills are present and in the first year concerns about hearing and visions are apparent. (“Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).”) If it is noticed this early on many specialist can help. According to NIH, “With early intervention, between 3% and 25% of children with autism make so much progress that they are no longer on the autism spectrum when they are older.”(NIH). So it is important to get help early
