Hamsters are friendly and calm which makes them a great pet, however this animal must also be cared for with great care. Winter white hamsters can have small bits of veggies and hamster food mix and pellets. They should also be given fresh water everyday.Another thing that is very important when caring for a winter white hamster is housing. One hamster needs at least 360 square feet in a cage. Two need at least 720 square feet. However, more square feet is recommended. The cage should not be placed in any direct sunlight or underneath a window. Bedding inside the cage should be at least 2-3 inches. The bedding should also not be cedar or pine, as they contain dangerous chemicals that can harm the hamster. Not only does a winter white hamster need a nice, spacious cage, but they also need things and toys inside to keep themselves entertained. One thing that is very important is a wheel. This will help them exercise and keep them entertained. Make sure the wheel is not made of mesh or wire as it can cause bumblefoot. making sure the wheel is large enough is also important. If it is not large enough, it can cause back problems with the hamster from it arching its back too much. When out of its cage, a playpen or hamster ball is ideal.
