Video Game Designer v.s. Writer
Ever since I was a kid I’ve had a great imagination and loved to write. But, ever since I played my first video game i’ve wanted to bring my ideas to life and make a video game. I was never really sure what I wanted to do and the thought just left my mind. However as a high school freshman I’ve started thinking very hard about what I want to do for the rest of my life since my school years are coming to an end. I decided I want to work on either of the things I love to do, write and be a writer, or play video games and be a video game designer. Next for the workplace and how many hours I’ll work, as a writer I will usually be at home sitting and writing for at least 4 hours but the hours are flexible ("Summary.") On the other hand a video game designer will be usually be sitting in an office for around 6 hours a day working, a video game designer usually works 40+ hours a week.("Video Game Designers.") I should know and think about this because if I want a family, I may want to take the stay at home less work hours job. Finally, the entire point of having a job is to get money right? So I really want to consider what my job is based on the salary I get. As a writer it depends on how famous I am along with how well my books sell, let’s say at a moderate rate and not famous. With those set in place I should be making $10,000-$50,000 annually ("Writing and Editing." 700.) Now as a fresh video game designer I’ll have a lower tier job since I would be new, this should pay me around $35,000-$75,000 annually (Taylor, Allan and Parish, James.
