To be a part of the academic community one should be able to write professional, academic texts. However, many students, who are just starting their academic career, don’t know the basics of rhetorics and are unable to write successful essays. When I was just admitted to the UCI, I was not skilled in the academic writing myself. Before this class I believed that peer review is a waste of time and was not sure how to make this task helpful. Mostly, it was, because the comments I was getting from it were too positive and too vague. Often my peer reviewers were just saying that I am doing a good job and didn’t specify what I need to improve. I have changed my previous thesis sentence from (5 February 2017):” In my essay I would like to explore how Oates by using “innocent:” and “experienced” voices …show more content…

I try my best to be active in the class discussions. For example, while my group was creating a class Power Point I have found two academic sources, which best illustrated our main ideas, have finished my assigned part of work on time and have helped other group members with editing. During class discussions I try always to be both active speaker and listener. I always share my opinion with the group and I listen and try to understand, when the other people are sharing their ideas. I always come early to the class and I have never been absent, because I don’t want to miss some important information or exercise. However, several times I have submitted my homework late. Once it was because I failed to submit the file correctly and the other time I was sick and went to the doctor and forgot about submitting my work. I know that submitting homework on time is my responsibility and I will try my best to submit all future homework on
