What exactly is a thesis statement? How important is it when applying to a paper and how does it make a difference in your assignment? This is important when starting out your paper to state your opinion and to make it catch the reader’s attention. “A thesis is more than a limited or narrowed topic; it expresses a point of view. It is declaration, summarizing your purpose.” Because it states your opinion, it is important so that the reader know how you feel about the subject. There is a few elements when it comes to writing a thesis that are very important. This is something that is not a paragraph but a sentence. You are not writing a lot just to state your opinion so keep it short and sweet. You are also not writing about the topic and everything, you just want to write enough so the reader knows how you feel about the subject. Even though you are stating your opinion, you have to make sure you are letting the reader knows what the topic is about. You want it short but enough to explain the topic and how you feel about the topic. I would say either the first or last sentence in the introduction. I would write my introduction and explain the topic then my last sentence would be my thesis stating my opinion and to tell the reader what else will be covered in the paper and make sure it coincides with my opinion. Sometimes you want to inform the reader of the subject before stating what else you will talk about in your writing and your opinion of the topic whether it be about legalizing marijuana, gay marriage etc. Some people do write their thesis at the end to sum it all up with one strong
