In this course I hope to gain new skills and techniques by diving into the creation process and I am looking forward to applying this knowledge in the classroom setting and receiving feedback on what I need to improve on so that when I get into the real world I will be able to take this experience and use it to help me create interesting and well developed scripts. One of the skills I am most interested in diving into is line editing. I struggle with this quite a bit, once I write something I tend to become attached and it becomes difficult to delete and change things. I also hope to continue this exciting experience of growth and self-discovery that has been facilitated by my fiction writing and reading journey in college. I really appreciate the freedom of a college level English course, in high school there were so many restrictions and the dynamic was very different. Now that I’m in college I can branch out and try new things and express myself in new ways that would have been frowned upon in the structured society of a high school class. A great example of this occurred in English 307, I wrote a piece that incorporated story elements that I had never written about before and never been comfortable enough to write about before. I think that it is this newfound freedom that has allowed to be to be comfortable with myself and has inspired me to break away from what I’ve been told is acceptable and challenge
