After World War II, aircraft structures had to be redesigned to enable the use of turbojet power instead of piston engine power. The aircraft that World War II had was some of the most historic aircraft in history. There was the P-51 Mustang and the Supermarine Spitfire, which was the most strategically important British single-seat fighter of WWII. During World War II just the United States alone manufactured over 275,000 aircrafts. It was necessary to change the materials because they needed jets that would go faster so they needed to weigh less.
Solution. Titanium is now used to make parts for aircrafts because of its weight-to-strength ratio. They are lighter so therefor consume less fuel.
Factor 3. The next change that was necessary was the structure of aircraft. Issue. It was necessary to change the structure of aircrafts because the jets were able to go higher so pressurized aircraft was needed.
Solution. It was solved by making pressurized aircraft. They made refinements to the all-metal semi-monocoque structures.
Factor 4. The next change that was necessary was smaller wings. Issue. The thicker the wings to slower the aircrafts and they wanted faster jets.
Solution. It was solved by making thinner wings. So because of that wing loading was increased and multispar and box beam wing designs were then developed.
V. Recommendations
I think making aircrafts smaller and faster is always a good thing because people always want to get to places as fast as possible. Maybe try designing a smaller engine that weighs less to be put in jets.
