Monopolies were a huge way of making more money in the late nineteenth century. A monopoly is formed when a business is an exclusive manufacturer of product because it could provide a higher quantity of a good than its adversaries. This prevented competition between businesses and paved ways for fixed prices on goods. Monopolies were problematic because it increased unemployment and it wasn’t considerate towards the consumer themselves because if the goods were of low quality, they could not have any other option to go to. With the rise of monopolies including Rockefeller's Oil Company in Ohio, John Sherman: a senator promoted the Sherman Antitrust Act in 1890.

When Henry was younger his father gifted him with a watch, Ford then started to take it apart and reassemble it which got him into the manufacturing business. As he grew older he stayed in the business and created a car known as, Model T. Because he helped America's economy during their most vulnerable years, Henry Ford is considered one of America's Leading Businessman. Ford was a revolutionary figure in the automotive world by improving the assembly line, work, pay, and the Model T. One of Ford’s biggest accomplishments was the creation of the Model T. After
Some more key factors used to improve the accuracy of duration are: Assigning more resources to a task on critical path – The only way the duration of the project can be reduced is by reducing the time taken for completing the critical path. One way of reducing project duration is ‘crashing’ where more resources can be allocated to tasks to finish them earlier, and hence reducing duration of the task (Project management Basics, 2011) Task Fast tracking – In a similar manner some tasks on the critical path, which may be reevaluated for the duration to see if they can be completed faster. This may mean that the team would need to find out creative ways of doing the task so the task can be completed faster, such as by reducing scope if possible, or by using technology or automation to compete the task. Parallel task completion – Another way of shortening the critical path is by identifying tasks that can be performed in parallel, which would ensure that work required is being done at the same time, thus completing more work in the same
In the case United States v. Microsoft antitrust, Microsoft was accused of running a monopoly with their Internet browser. Microsoft’s Internet browser, Internet Explorer, was a competitor in the battle between Internet browsers at that time. Browsers had to be bought separately during this time and Microsoft began including their browser with their operating system Microsoft Windows giving them an advantage. This basically meant everyone that had a Microsoft computer were using Internet explorer browsers. Accusations were first initiated in 1998 on the basis of violating the Sherman Antitrust Act.

The Invention of Monopoly Introduction Charles Darrow, the man credited for inventing Monopoly, was actually not the true inventor of the board game; The real inventor, was actually a lady named Lizzie Magie, who never received much credit for inventing it first. In the time period, women were thought to be stupid housewives and were incapable of anything. No one would have thought a woman could have invented something. The board game Monopoly has an interesting history, because the true inventor is actually Lizzie Magie, a woman, and because of the challenges the inventors had gone through, and because of the new changes to the board game.
Businesses operating in competitive markets have to be on their best performance in terms of; • Quality • Pricing • Customer service • Community service Competition is actually very good for markets that get treated to the power of choosing the best deals offered. Monopolies, on the other hand, do not dwell on pleasing the markets they serve. They are oppressive and disallowed in many economies, whether capitalistic or not. ABSTRACT Monopoly can be understood in very simple term meaning a market which has only one seller and there are no close substitutes for that seller’s product or service. Sometimes the term “monopoly” is technically referred to the market itself but usually it is referred to the seller who has created monopoly in the market. The single seller is otherwise called as “monopolist”. Monopoly to be really effective in the market should practically have no substitutes for the product or service at all and also there should be no threat of the entry of a competitor into the market. This gives the monopolist a perfect control over the pricing of the product or service.
