PepsiCo existing mission statement A mission statement is the brief description of a company’s fundamental purpose (Verma, 2009, p. 153). It determines where the organization is going and tells what the company is presently. It informs the desired level of performance. “Our mission is to be the worlds’ premier consumer products’ company focused on convenient foods and beverages. We seek to produce financial rewards to investors as we provide opportunities for growth and enrichment to our employee, our business partners and the communities in which we operate. And in everything we do, we strive for honesty, fairness and integrity” (PepsiCo, 2014).

To create value and make a difference everywhere we engage”. (Coca-Cola, 2014). Comparatively, coke’s mission is more about people, and with the unclear benefit message of simply ‘‘refreshing” them with sugar water. PepsiCo is about making money. However, both are pretty pathetic. Coca Cola Company’s mission statement is poor; it includes only two components and did not mention any values in which the company guides its actions. It is more of customer-oriented, which means that the mission is flexible and as well enduring. It seems Coca Cola mixed its vision statement with the mission in the areas of people, portfolio, partners, profit and productivity. Also Coca Cola provides seven values, that guides its employee’s actions, but did not mention any of its mission such as; leadership, collaboration, integrity, accountability, passion, diversity and quality.
