The Christmas Carol is a great and popular story, people have made movies and plays about it, though the play can be more accurate. The movies can be very accurate to the actual story. Although it is not a very long play there are many different things going on. The story overall has a great message to it. As in, never say that Christmas lame or not worth it.
The chains that Jacob Marley and the other ghosts wear are important to the story, A Christmas Carol because Marley tells Scrooge that he has to carry chains in his afterlife. But Scrooge doesn't believe he is real. So, Marley sends three ghosts to make him believe in Christmas and to stop being a cranky guy during the rest of his life. Marley's chain is around him during his afterlife because he was a greedy man during his life. Marley was greedy because he didn’t want to give money, food, shelter, and way more the poor and homeless even though they need it.

When the spirits take Scrooge to the past present and future, Scrooge undergoes a major transformation Dickens demonstrates this by showing that Scrooge changed from a lonely, greedy man, that didn’t like Christmas and dislike people to a generous man that likes Christmas and was more accepting of other people. Dickens shows this change through Scrooge’s actions while traveling through time with the spirits.

The first contrast I found between the book and the movie was the color of the Grinch. In the book, the Grinch has no color and is black and white. In the movie, the Grinch is green.
There are also a few similarities between the book and the movie like how Kenny almost drowns in both. Another thing that is in both the movie and the book is that Kenny sees a little girl trapped in the church. Also in both the book and the movie Kenny hides behind the couch. The bombing at the church happens in both the book and the movie. A big similarity is that in both the book and the movie Joey leaves the church before it blows up.

Writers have taken artistic liberties and have added or taken away to the beloved Christmas story to make it their own. No two versions are going to be exactly similar, and most definitely are going to have many differences. The play and the movie both follow the basic plotline of the classic novel, A Christmas Carol.
Firstly, in my opinion I think it has more details than the movie. The book has the same characters but in the book there is three sisters. The book had details that felt so real. It described everything, the setting and the mood.

In the beginning of the story Scrooge was hateful and in the end he was very loving. But once he started to change he changed very rapidly.
One of the difference is that In the movie Scrooge had a dog while In the book It never mentions Scrooge having a dog, the dog appears in the movie allot and play a major role on protecting Scrooge and guarding the house in the movie the dog seems like he just trying to have some fun but when he is with Scrooge he need to be serious. But at the end when Scrooge learns his lesson, the dog was very happy and enjoying his time just like a normal dog. Another difference is that in the movie they sang while in the book the never sang, Well In a book it is very hard to show the reader your singing while in the movie it is easy to show facials expressions and singing. Another difference is that in the book Scrooge said to bob Crachit he will double his salary while in the movie he said that he will raise bob Crachit salary both have totally different meaning.
