Personal Statement for Yash Shah to NMMATYC Committee. I am Yash Shah, a Mesalands Community College student as well as a STEM tutor. I am going to New Mexico Tech in Fall 2016 to do an engineering in Computer Science with Physics. I am an immigrant coming from India. I had done my high school from India. I arrived in US in California. It has been about two years in the United States. I, with my family, came here to Tucumcari in search of work. When I came here, I was late to get admission in the college as I came in October. I didn’t want any pauses in my education, so I started high school here as a junior, even though I had a high school diploma from India. This college accepted me very well and helped me to choose my career. I have an interest in solving problems whether it is just math or computer or physics. My inspiration for Physics had come from my Indian high school teacher and he had not only inspired me but also encouraged me to be what I am right now. I was medium student, but I did lots of practise and my teacher was encouraging me to do so. My real math ability bloomed in the very end of the high school, when we had to take All India Engineering Entrance Exam (AIEEE or Joint Entrance Exam-JEE). In that comprehending Math-Science exam, I did lots of problems and I guess, this calculus level here in Math is my fruit for that
