Ying Yang is a chinese legend about two forces that are complete opposites they are so opposite that they work in perfect harmony, but if the balance is disturbed both will perish. Likewise to the novel “The Outsiders”by S.E. Hilton It tells about two boys Johnny and Dally, on the same side of the spectrum but complete opposites. They are both in a gang called the Greasers where they are rival gangs to the Socs. The Greasers are low class and the Socs are higher middle class that can get away with anything. In other words, one is a weakness to the other, Johnny is a weakness to Dally. Life was good when the balance was undisturbed and no one was killed. Johnny and Dally both suffered from domestic violence, but it changed them in opposite ways. Johnny became a coward like in the words of Ponyboy his good friend when he was asked if he wanted to goto the movies “I knew Johnny wouldn't open his mouth unless he was forced to.”(13) Dally on the other hand, became independent, Tough and hard. He grew up on the rough sides of new york where he got in fight regularly “In New York, Dally blew off steam in gang fights,”(10). When Johnny died from the fire Dally is right by his side, he couldn’t accept the fact that one of his brother like friends was gone. He couldn’t take is "Dallas is gone," I said. "He ran out like the devil was after him. He's gonna blow up. He couldn't take it."(130). Eventually, he commits suicide by taking out a unloaded gun surrounded by police officers and dies. Dally couldn’t accept Johnny’s death he felt like he was supposed to protect him from harm and most of all from ending up like him, but when he failed his quest he killed himself.
