Dear Fellow Mississippian, The Magnolia State is a unique place. We birthed the blues and rock-and-roll. William Faulkner's Yoknapatawpha County may exist only in the pages of his short stories to the rest of the world. But we know it is a real place where The Grove is always welcoming you, even if you are carrying a cowbell in one hand. Whether hearing the voice of God or the voice of Darth Vader, you are listening to a Mississippi boy. And in the times when "It Isn't Easy Being Green", we can waste away in "Margaritaville". Creative artistry is not our only export. Our small towns have also borne great minds of civil rights leaders. The ideology of these social reformers helped spread equality not only through our back yards but from sea to shining sea. After a successful career as an independent hairdresser, this Mississippi expat knew that I was ready for a life change. And I knew that change would begin with my return to the Magnolia State to finish my bachelor's degree. I started my search by researching stenography programs, mainly because I am an excellent typist. But I soon settled on pursuing a degree in paralegal. The flexibility of the degree was the initial draw. Knowing my administrative skills would be even more developed in an environment where I would constantly be learning helped me make my final decision.
