Chikamatsu Monzaemon’s play The Love Suicides at Amijima depict characters who struggle to meet their obligations when they confront their true emotions. There are four main characters who the audience sees in conflict: Jihei, Koharu, Osan, and Magoemon. Jihei is a paper merchant, father, and husband of Osan. Floundering with the weight of keeping his family secure and his business alive, Jihei attempts to distract himself with the town 's pleasure quarters. While in the pleasure quarters he meets and becomes enamored with the young prostitute, Koharu.
In the novel, Farewell to Manzanar by Jeanne Wakatsuki Houston and James D Houston, the main character is put through a lot of devastating, circumstantial situations that causes her overall development to be quite different from others. Seeing as she is telling the story, readers get to know Jeanne tremendously throughout the plot. Jeanne is a very family oriented person, and needs that support to get through the rough patches she hits after the bombing of Pearl Harbor in 1941. When Jeanne and her family were first forced to Manzanar, Jeanne is at a very prime and impressionable part of her life. Her family and friends she meets at Manzanar help to shape who she will grow up to be as a person.

Soraya and General Taheri have a relationship proving that an imbalance of power is unhealthy. When Soraya runs off with an Afghan man at age eighteen, General Taheri appears within a month with a gun in hand threatening to kill the man and then himself (Hosseini 179). Through this act he asserts his power and control over Soraya’s life, which causes Soraya to loathe her father. General Taheri’s dominance also causes him to seem embarrassed of Soraya and he is quick to change the subject when his daughter is brought up in conversation (Hosseini 141). General Taheri does not hide his disappointment in Soraya for not conforming to Afghan standards and tries to control her decisions.

Baba and Amir's foil is shown throughout the novel, but you can already identify many differences at the beginning of the book when they lived in Kabul. Although, they also do have a few similarities. They are similar because they are father and son and share similar characterises. Baba and Amir both grew up wealthy as they are Pashtuns. Amir and Baba both hold hard secrets and live their life filled with guilt.
In the book, Journey to the West, the character Monkey interacts with many other types of beings including humans, animals, and supernatural beings. Monkey himself is an animal, but he does gain things that celestials may commonly have like enlightenment, immortality, and holy weapons. These things along with his persuasiveness and boldness do make him seem superior to animals and humans, but he is still, at most, an equal to some celestials. He has proven his superiority over humans and animals and he acts if they are below him. Meanwhile, he has no proof of being superior to the celestials.
In the novel Wonder by R.J Palacio, a number of symbols help to show Auggie's journey as he goes through the struggles of school. They’re a family trying to overcome the difficulties and obstacles that comes with being black in America in that time. Obstacles such as lynchings,segregation,racial discrimination and overall the difficulties that comes with being black in America. With external problems within the family the characters also internal conflicts within themselves.
Firstly ,Elena Vilkas. A selfless, hardworking, fearless mother who installed strength and determination to those around her who may not have survived without. Also known for her unselfishness which she exhibited in many situations of the novel. For example,when Elena gave up her bread ration to a starving boy who was already dead but had his hand outstretched as if he was asking for food. The incredible thing about it was that she herself was also very sick and that bit of food could’ve ended up being very critical between life or death.
