Zoe Toscano has painted one of the most abstract painting I have seen. It describes the light and darkness in life and how we handle it. Life could be a mystery and Zoe’s painting of Die Trying helps tell the story on how life is lived. You start out full of life and vibrant. But sooner or later you see life for what it really is and you can see the darkness and despair. Throughout the painting there are distinct things that contradict the title of the painting. The painting is called Die Trying, but yet the majority of the painting is about life and how we live.
To begin, the painting Die Trying by Zoe Toscano is a miraculous painting filled with so much emotion. This painting emotionalizes both death and birth. This piece of abstract art contains an elephant fetus, the chest of the human body, legs, piranha and masks, making this painting the most distinct. The art contains both a dark side and light side of what we go through in life. The elephant fetus represents the beginning of life. The emotion in the painting depicts the sadness that everyone goes though. On the bright side life is so full and meaning full. One of the first things that we notice in the painting is the elephant in the womb. What is not highly noticed in the painting is on the top right next to the nose, it looks like a sperm which is the beginning of life. The masks are hiding the faces of their reality. The dark side is darkness; it is the deepness of the soul. Life and death are connected together by the brain. The art is abstract because it is the way Zoe’s feels. She feels so mixed with emotions that her painting became a jumbled mess of life, identity, death, and the birthing process. Life takes over until the brain makes drastic decisions to think deeper about humanity and what life has really
