Annotation 6-12Martina Igini. Why Electric Cars Are Better for the Environment, earth.org, 2023Today there are many ways to combat the issue of pollution for automobiles. Many of these solutions are large tasks to achieve but proven to better our idea of perfect world. Inthe article from earth.org its stated that “Just 5% of lithium-ion batteries are being recycled, a 2021 data analysis found, which is highly alarming, considering that more than 90% of cobalt and nickel can be easily removed” – Igini. The goal of pushing to make recycling more attractive to the masses could greatly cover the footprint left by the batteries we currently use leveling out the task of pollution from these vehicles. Another great solution suggested were “some of the world’s key regions are looking at ways to evolve their policy landscape to regulate battery collection and recycling” – Igini. To force this procedure in 2019 China has taken the initiative to charge disposal fees to companies that do not abide this rule. In the USA most of the major chains charge a fee with the purchase of tires and Batteries with the incentive being a reimbursement for returning the original core for proper disposal. The use of EV cars on the road leave absolutely zero footprint but as to the source of the electric used earth.org claims “While tailpipe emissions from electric vehicles are zero, how much these actually pollute depends on where such vehicles get their electricity from.” -Igini. This leads to a better solution by attacking the base of clean energy production, the solution would be selectingenergy sources that cause less of a carbon footprint overall as well as switching to gas powered automobiles. Overall, the biggest change caused by EV has been proven in science, convincing the public to abide is a battle of its own. According to IEA and a

study described in the article says, “a recent study by Uswitch that analyzed data from theInternational Energy Agency (IEA) estimates that the continent could save emissions equivalent to planting one billion trees (or a forest larger than Belgium) as well as reduce sea level by 2.19 millimeters.” By supporting the switch overall.Lauren Phillips. Health Experts Discuss Ways to Achieve Universal Health Coverage, CommonWealthFund, 2007The idea surrounding free health coverage has many solutions but all of them have consequences in one shape or another, the Brookings Institution's Hamilton Project hosted an event on July 20, 2007, to discuss what can be done about moving forward. Leading experts from around the world have proposed many ideas on this matter, one proposal was suggested “initiating a government voucher system, instead of current insurance programs, that would provide a standard package of benefits comparable to employer-given health insurance.” - Ezekiel Emanuel of the National Institutes of Health. The idea that allows vouchers to be given to the people who are in most need, unable to qualify currently for any type of medical support. Another plan suggested by The Heritage Foundation's Stuart Butler creating “"Health Exchange Plan," which would evolve the current system to allow for portable insurance through state-charted "insuranceexchanges. It also would overhaul current tax subsidies to target lower-income families.”.– Butler. The plan allows the tax bracket between lower income families and the ones who are in a better financial point can be applied based on the lack of overall income by the household itself. Free healthcare can really change the scare of a shortened life of make ease of humans with disabilities so they may focus on working or better contributing to our society overall.

Hallie Busta. 3 ways to make free college programs work, highereddive, 2018Many solutions to allow free schooling to succeed will require much change, these changes are large to financing entities, yet small changes to achieve the overall goal. An article from higher drive suggests many ways to do so while minimizing consequences to school systems and financing for school infrastructure, the idea of free college effectiveness goes beyond the older age group as it encourages the mind of students in high school believing they cannot afford to continue education due to the financial issues behind it. Higher Drive has suggested that facts show “free college programs have the potential to improve college-going culture at high schools. That is in part because they can be an ongoing source of information about what is needed to meet academic requirements for college, and they make clear that higher education is available to a student regardless of their socioeconomic background or academic history.” – Busta. It is suggested that even smaller ways to solve this issue is a simple as “include heftier tuition discounts, reduced sticker prices and more place-based scholarships and need- andmerit-based aid” – Busta. A few other colleges have considered targeting low-income families that qualify for finical help as well as room and board help. A university of Rice College has said “it will offer grant aid covering tuition, mandatory fees and room and board to students with family incomes of less than $65,000” – Busta. These are great ways to push forward on the battle to free schooling. And it hardly affects the company itself progressing other students in the process.EOG Reporter. Clean energy has been a debate for ages starting with the cost of research and development to place the idea into a functional method of usage in today’s world. Clean energy also uses the environment to achieve this goal, leading to much research on whether it is damaging to the environment more than our normal way of obtaining energy. A major solution to this issue is the technological advancement of use on solar powered energy. “Solar power uses photovoltaic (PV) cells to convert sunlight into electricity. Increasingly affordable, it is a viable option and is now competing with fossil fuel use in some areas.” – EOG. The use of solar power is less carbon footprint if any at all, using the sun to collect store and distribute energy as needed. The scale at which solarpowered options have become increasingly affordable to the average family home as wellas cutting the cost of electric per home in half almost. Allowing low in come housing to greatly save on overwhelming bills for energy that has weighed down the average homeowner. Large corporations have also considered the switch to methods such as theses while getting incentives on tax cuts for the replacement of clean energy versus fossil fuel. Another option for clean energy is the solution of wind usage to generate energy “Once harnessed, its energy can be used to generate electricity. A wind turbine is the device that converts that kinetic energy into electrical energy. Not only is wind an abundant and inexhaustible resource, but turbines are becoming more efficient and cost-effective.” – EOG. These new wind technologies have unlimited consumption due to there never being a lack of source, naturally wind is cheap and easy to harness effectivelyadding to the struggle of clean affordable energy. Many farms and larger electric grids use this method storing unused energy to power more than just the location they are

placed. Turbines are cheap on repairs and last an extremely long time for the long-term usage of such methods, as well as keeping a zero-carbon footprint on our environment. Mark Frankel. The Role of Science in Making Good Decisions, AAAS, 1998The solution of using science to make political plays hold more ground than personal beliefs to the masses, factual science has shown to improve the overall goal in the effectiveness our leaders have with their decision process to complete change for our better being. In the article it is said that “the effectiveness of science in the promotion of human welfare. The Association has in various public statements over the years advocated the incorporation of good scientific research and information into the public policy process.” – Frankel. The decisions made by this process cause a more in-depth investigation into the decision-making process regarding the wellbeing of our society, simply using science as a basis for difficult decisions have greatly improved our understanding of how effective each solution can be to the effect it has greatly to the mass population. Frankel has mentioned “Questions regarding the validity of scientific evidence and the credentials of some experts are the background”. The experts must use science to show how the decision has been made and whether the facts stand behind the claim, this can rule out the false or illogical information used for selfish bases when leaders are at a still point of the overall decision process. Using political science also removes bias or belief systems that cause one to overlook the benefits on the outcome of each decision.Works Cited
