THE PRESENTATIONS1THE PRESENTATIONS SUB A RACK A NOID bleeding in the brain between spaces that surrounds your brain Subarachnoid Hemorrhage SAHIf a brain bleed is suspected but doesn't show on a CT scan, a spinal tap can detect blood in the cerebrospinal fluid CSF. a kidʼs brain and spinal cord is so vital to our body bc it involves the control of our cognitive, behavior, mobility, and sensation so a lumbar puncture is the least amount of risk accessing the spinal canal and a spinal fluid floating around it through a needle. Patients are positioned with their back curved so the spaces between thevertebraeare as wide as possible. This makes it easier for the doctor to insert the needle. When the patient is in position, the doctor carefully inserts the spinal needle between two vertebrae. When the needle reaches an area called the spinal canal, the doctor slowly pulls out the needle, which lets the cerebrospinal fluid drip into the collection tubes. This takes only a few minutes.encephalitis → inflammation in the brain meningitis → inflammation of the meninges which surround around the brain autoimmune diseases like Multiple sclerosis and guillain barre syndrome bc of nerve damage Guillain barre syndrome → rare autoimmunethe autoimmune is attacking the nerve damage, spinal tap is done to help assess for that. child be paralyzed from this→ NO bc it is below the spinal cord so there is no risk at all
THE PRESENTATIONS2there is a risk for headache (caution sign if it is longer than 24 hours not resolved but worse if longer than 48 hours), infection and bleeding.
