(i)Ashton Lipinski(ii)Pat Queen Jordheim (iii)Comm. 110, Fundamentals of Public Speaking Class Time(iv)February 16, 2023Artificial IntelligenceSpecific Purpose: To inform the class how AI works, its real-world applications, and future impacts.I.IntroductionA.Good Afternoon ladies and gentlemen, today I’ll be talking to you about Artificial intelligence, also known as AI. B.Who in here has seen The Terminator. a.Ok so for those of you who haven’t, it’s about a hyper-intelligent AI that gains control of the world and is determined to exterminate humanity.b.Watched about 10 years ago and the image of ai being bad stuck with me c.So naturally, when I started learning about AI a couple of years ago but the more I look into it, the more I think this certain path of technology will be beneficial in the long runC.After all, AI has been around for almost 70 years and nothing horribly wrong has happened, yet. https://sitn.hms.harvard.edu/flash/2017/history-artificial-intelligence/D.In this speech I will be explaining how AI works, categories of AI, and real world applications.II.Body: A.AI is a tool that can be used to perform tasks that would normally require human intelligence. 1.Works by using machine learninga.According to the Microsoft Azure Machine Learning Platform, machine learning is “the ability of computers to learn from data without being explicitly programmed.” (Microsoft Azure, n.d.). A way to enable computers to learn, adapt, and improve without human intervention.b.Steps of machine learning as described in the article Frameworks for Approaching the Machine Learning Process by Matthew Mayo in 2018:i.Data collection and preparation:

Having more nodes results in a more accurate model (Shin, 2020). *explain using visual aidiv.Model training: singing the abc’s until its memorizedv.Model evaluationvi.DeploymentB.There are 4 main types of AI1.Each type is identified by its level of ability to interface with people c.Reactivei.Most basic type1.Give the same output to a given situation on every occasion and only respond to situations that they were programmed for. (Marr, n.d.)2.Examples include chess bots, search enginesd.Limited Memoryi. The most common type of ai today1.According to Bernard Marr in his article, Understanding the 4 Types of Artificial Intelligence, AI “uses historical, observational data in combination with pre-programmed information to make predictions and perform complex classification tasks” (Marr, n.d.)a.Learns from its experiencesArtificial IntelligencePage 2 of 5

Capable of introspection. Will have desires, needs, and a consciousness (Marr, n.d.)2.Will be able to walk amongst and be nearly indistinguishable from human intelligence.c.AI is a very useful tool in many industries including Healthcare, Finance, Manufacturing, Advertising, and Transportation. (UNext Editorial Team Content Writer, 2022)1.For the sake of time I will only discuss Ai’s influence on transportation.a.i.ii..b.AutoPilot is a form of AI (Verger, 2022)i.Maintaining heading, Altitude, and airspeed (Verger, 2022)ii.AI can act much quicker than humans which increases efficiency. (Verger, 2022)iii.Continuously Monitor systems and alert pilots (Verger, 2022)B.ConclusionA.Summary1.Restate main head 1i.Restate main head 2ii.Restate main head 3Artificial IntelligencePage 3 of 5
