MGMT 3830 - Assignment: Strategy in the Business PressObjective:Using the course content to analyze and evaluate the strategic decisions made by firms active within or related to the automobile industry. Instructions:1.Read the bundle of articles ‘A difficult new world’ (See Moodle)This set of articles provides a detailed overview of how the automobile industry is changing and how this affects firms in the industry. In fact, the articles provide you with an external analysis of the industry. It also provides some insights regarding the internal issues some companies are facing. 2.Find additional (more recent) relevant information on changes occurring that (may)affect firms active within or related to the automobile industry. This information, combined with the information under (1) will be the source for your O&T in the SWOT analysis.3.Find articlesin the reputable business press that discuss a company's strategic decisions. This is a company active within or related to the automobile industry. These decisions reflect the strategic path firms in the automobile industry choose in reaction to the opportunities and threats discussed in the articles you read (see 1 & 2). The articles can also include the outcomes of strategic decisions made by these companies. Reputable business press includes most publishing or news outlets (e.g., HBR, Wall StreetJournal, NYT, NPR, Fox News, Washington Post, CNN, etc.) but does not include things like personal blog posts or social media posts. You can use a podcast as your source as long as it is from a news outlet of some type. An article should be extensive enough. This implies that it provides more than just a couple of lines of information regarding an ‘event’. 4.Analyze the articles:Read and thoroughly analyze the chosen articles. Pay attention to the strategic decisions and outcomes described within it. Consider questions like:What strategic decision(s) where made? Why did the company make this decision? If the article also addresses the outcome of a decision made, why do you think this outcome realized? 5.Explain the strategic choice of the firm by applying course concepts:In your analysis, use the concepts and frameworks discussed in class. Explain how these are relevant to understanding the strategic decisions and outcomes presented in the article. What is the company trying to address (Opportunity or threat? Which one)? How do you explain their choice for this strategic decision? What would have been other options, and why do you think they were not preferred?1

Everyone needs to be present, however, and needs to be prepared to answer questions after the presentation. 2)What is the minimum time of the presentation? You should target a presentation of about 20 minutes. If you practice enough beforehand, you will know how close you are to 20 minutes. 3)How many slides should the presentation have?
