MKT-3421 Marketing Tools: Promotions SYLLABUSLSU Online Second Spring 2024Instructor: Aaron GleibermanOffice Hours: by appointmentEmail: aarong@lsu.eduMKT-3421 Marketing Tools: Promotionsis a practical and theoretical lookat how companies conduct marketing campaigns. We explore the practical by discussing media buying, advertising research, and more. We delve into the theoretical by reviewing academic articles, analyzing campaigns, and discussing modern issues in digital marketing. The course is comprised of lectures on marketing promotions theory that will be covered on the two exams, as well as discussion questions, presentations,and peer-engagement. Packback provides real-time feedback onanswers an inquiries in the form of “curiosity points” and will be heavilyfactored into the end of the semester grade. At the beginning of thesemester, a Packback representative will email you a link to the Packbackcourse, where you can purchase your Packback license. Packback does offerscholarships and payment plans for this software, which costs around $30-50.
Make-up Participation: Because I believe in the preceding paragraph onprofessionalism, I also reward professional behavior. This means that for anyin-class assignment you miss, you can make it up by doing something“professional.” Examples include going to Ourso-sponsored events, careerdays, professional services counseling, etc. To receive credit for aparticipationmake-up,youmustemailmeproofofyourattendance/involvement. Often, this is in the form of a “selfie” at the event,or other ‘proof’ that you can provide, and I will determine on a case-by-casebasis. More will be discussed in class, but any points must be made up withinTWO WEEKS of missing the assignment. You must email me your make upproof with the Subject: Make-up for XX/XX date – and title. I will not countmake-ups not in this format. Exceptions: Participation will always be“collected” on guest speaker days, and these cannot be made-up. Integrity and Academic Dishonesty:Integrity and ethical behavior arekeys to student success while at LSU and beyond. Therefore, universitypolicies regarding academic dishonesty will be strictly enforced. All studentswill be held accountable for proper academic conduct and subject to thepolicies in the LSU “Student Code of Conduct” available online at the LSUDean of Students Office website. Special Needs: LSU provides services in its Office of Disabilities Services(ODS), including examination scheduling and accommodation requests.Students using such services must provide the instructor with ODSdocumentation and sufficient notification such that the instructor canproperly accommodate students’ needs. Please provide this documentationto the instructor no later than the end of the first week of the semester. Ininstances where ODS administers course work, students are required toschedule such work consistent with the scheduling of this work for the classas a whole. In addition, students with emergency medical information and/orstudents needing special arrangements in case of emergency buildingevacuation should provide them confidentially with the instructor.Schedule: Towards the beginning of the semester, you will be provided adate-wise schedule of our tentative timeline (lectures, quizzes, tests, guestspeakers, etc.) for the semester. I may deviate from this plan for a variety ofreasons, but this serves as a general guide. I reserve the right to alter any ofthe information provided in this syllabus, but will communicate thesechanges either in class or via email.
