Part 5:Scenario: TxRig recently experienced an issue with data that was lost and not recoverable, which has raised concerns for the safety of company data. Management has requested your assistance in developing a disaster recovery plan to ensure the integrity of data and to prevent future loss of critical data. Data to be protected includes the following:Server operating systems sizes varyPayroll database 5gbCustomer database 12gb Financial records 6gbOil and gas production records 2tb16 departments critical files 125gbMission critical data that is required to be available 24/7 include:Customer databaseOil and gas production recordsDepartment critical files Assignment:Students will develop a plan to guard against future data loss. This is to be a short description (not to exceed 1 page) of the steps you would recommend to protect company data. Options include in-house backups as well as third party online backup options, including microsoft azure or amazon web services.

To protect TXRig from future data loss I would take note of the data that needs to be backed up and I would identify the critical data and then determine how I would back it up. I would start by location mapping the data finding out where everything is stored. I would then do regular backups. I would do a mix of versioning backups, differential backups, and a cloud backup. I would set up a hot site as well so they would have infrastructure to continue operations in case of a major outage. Reflection: 1.How could this be applied in the real world? I can use the information in this lab in the real world to come up with a data backup plan for any company I will have the opportunity to work for as every company has and needs updated data recovery plans.2.What is the purpose of the lab? The purpose of this lab is to teach me how to do a full server backup and restore, mounting backup hard drives, and developing a disaster recovery plan.
