Isabella Schmidt 1.The major hypothesis is scientists believe that the development of solar far distances canaffect the home range of Easter Box Turtles. This is because their habitat, known as BNLSF, has changed. 2.Based on Figure 3A there does seem to be an effect on the solar farm range size. Based on the figure, within the solar far shows a wider home range. There is more consistency around five ha, whereas when the home range increases there is not as much of a clumped data but still is greater than never within the solar farm. With the data shown based on the never within the solar far there is a more clumped range less around 3ha and starts to disperse out around 10ha. This data supports that there is an effect on the solar farm on the home range size. Although the objects' density within the solar farm is higher at 0 ha, the increase in the home range causes it to grow and reach a concentration of around 40 ha. The home range size of the farm also tends to be slightly more dispersed in the scatter plot compared to the solar farm. 3.There does not seem to be an effect on spending more time in the solar farm on the home range based on Figure 4A. The observed within the solar farm area tends to be lower when the home range of the objects is higher for most of the points. This means that there are more points on one side compared to the other. However, the higher number of observations in the solar farm have a smaller home range below 15ha. This shows that there is not a significant difference. 4.The study concluded that solar farms can negatively affect the Eastern Box turtle's home range. Previous studies indicated that these facilities could cause various issues, such as the mortality of wildlife and the lack of food availability. However, other studies have shown that the Eastern Box turtle did not have a significant difference in their home range. The study's findings could have been influenced by the fencing around the solar farm.
