He highlighted how these skills transcend specific jobs and contribute to overall success.Aim and Objective of the Interview:Aim of the interview:The aim of the life story interview for personality development is to understand how diverse lifeexperiences, influenced by different age, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, race, class, orculture, contribute to the development of an individual's personality. Personality Development:Enhancing and expanding one's psychological and behavioral qualities is part of the wholeprocess of developing one's personality. The core idea is the development of self-awareness,which allows people to better understand themselves by gaining knowledge of their ownstrengths, limitations, values, beliefs, and emotions. The development of self-confidence and astrong conviction in one's own value and talents are interwoven with this process, which alsomotivates people to establish objectives, take calculated chances, and face obstacles head-on.Emotional intelligence is a key component of this development as it gives people the ability toidentify, comprehend, and effectively control their emotions. This leads to better interpersonalrelationships and more skillful dispute resolution. The process of forming, refining, and evolvingone's personality throughout time is referred to as personality development. Although this kind ofgrowth happens organically throughout life, deliberate actions can also alter it.Sharpened social and communication skills, which support constructive interactions, activelistening, and clear expression, round out these elements and serve as the foundation for lastingpartnerships and team projects. Developing resilience and adaptability also helps people to dealwith change, recover from failures, and seize new chances with confidence and agility. Peopleare empowered to lead meaningful lives, cultivate meaningful relationships, and confidently andpurposefully manage the challenges of the modern world via this continuous process of self-discovery and improvement.Throughout the process of self-discovery and refinement, personality development weavestogether a variety of threads that support holistic growth. Its central journey is one of self-awareness, in which people explore their inner selves thoroughly and peel back layers of identity, values, beliefs, and emotions. This journey of self-examination not only improves self-awarenessbut also establishes the groundwork for developing genuineness and coordinating behavior withfundamental values.
When people develop their self-awareness, they frequently start a parallel search for self-confidence, learning to accept their assets, recognize their areas of weakness, and cultivate agood self-image. Creating a mentality of resilience and flexibility in the face of adversityrequires venturing outside of comfort zones, taking calculated risks, and creating significantgoals in order to build self-confidence.Personality Traits:Individuals' distinct qualities that influence their conduct, feelings, and mental processes areknown as personality traits. A vast array of attributes that differ across individuals are included inthese features. Openness and extraversion are two characteristics that characterize how peoplereact to novel situations and social situations. Others represent behavior patterns associated withresponsibility, organization, or emotional stability, such as neuroticism or conscientiousness. TheFive-Factor Model is the most often utilized system of attributes. Five major characteristics makeup this system: neuroticism, agreeableness, extraversion, conscientiousness, and openness.1.Openness to Experience: A person's ingenuity, inventiveness, curiosity, and openness tonew experiences are all reflected in their Openness to Experience score. People that havehigh openness tend to be interested about the world around them, have an open mind, andvalue unusual ideas as well as art and culture. They are inclined to inventive and creativepursuits and take pleasure in examining novel notions, thoughts, and perceptions.2.Conscientiousness: Levels of organization, accountability, dependability, and self-controlare indicators of conscientiousness. An individual with a high conscientiousness level isconscientious, meticulous, and goal-oriented. Individuals with poor conscientiousnessfrequently detest routines and rigidity, put off doing necessary work, and also frequentlyfail to finish assignments.3.Extraversion: Coziness, assertiveness, zeal, and the propensity to look for excitement andsocial contacts in the outside world are all considered aspects of extraversion. Beingamong others makes extraverts happy, chatty, gregarious, and energized. Individuals who
are comfortable in leadership situations, thrive in social environments, and are drawn toactivities that offer excitement and novelty. 4.Agreeableness: Happiness, compassion, collaboration, and care for others are allindicators of one's degree of agreeableness. Comfortable, sympathetic, and cooperativepeople score well on agreeableness scales. They are drawn to respectful, altruistic, andtrustworthy connections; they also cherish harmonious relationships and exhibit care forthe welfare of others.5.Neuroticism (Emotional Stability): The degree to which people feel unpleasant emotionsincluding anxiety, despair, insecurity, and mood swings is reflected in their neuroticism, also known as emotional stability. Stress, anxiety, and emotional reactivity may be morecommon in those with high neuroticism. People who have low neuroticism, on the otherhand, are often more emotionally stable, robust, and capable of handling life's obstacles.Methodology:The manager of a well-known commercial bank, Mr. Devendra Dhital, was selected for theinterview. Who was well matured, aged 40+ and had a lot of experience of everything. Asequence of questions was prepared mainly focusing on his childhood, experiences, difficulties, and sufferings, about his weakness and strengths, his family, about his personal and professionallife and more. Mr. Devendra Dhital was very friendly and energetic in nature which helps us toconduct the 20+ min interview in no time. We had more conversation behind the camera too. Finding of the case study:The first question we asked him was about his childhood experience, knowledge and hissufferings. We wanted to take him to his childhood once again. And it was like, “What were yourchildhood experience and sufferings?” He answered us with full of emotions. He depicts thesorrows and pain in his childhood. He expressed that his childhood was full of sadness andsufferings. He said he shifted to Pokhara when he was 4 years old for educational purposes. Helost his father when he was inside his mother's worm. The incident has already been 4 monthssince he was born. Then he grown up with his maternal uncles. He started his schooling in 2042BS. Then he gave his SLC examination in 2054 BS. His schooling wasn’t as easy as we think, he
said. He also added if we talked about my childhood journey more, it will be so long like neverending. So, just to make it short, this is how my childhood experience overed. We were able tolearn about his difficulties of not being the backbone of family, his father. His absence makeshim sadder and more difficult. He was forced to move and change multiple schools that madehim difficult in his educational career too.Another question we asked him was “In your professional life, how was your family beensupporting you so far and how are things going now?”. His reply was like without family I can’timagine how my life would it be and you guys also can do nothing without the support of yourfamily whether you are in a senior post or in a greater post it doesn’t have any value if yourfamily isn’t with you. After a whole day shift whenever u go home if your family are with youthen a feeling of self-satisfaction comes, and your professional life will be pleasant. Talkingabout starting of my career my mom was alone. After starting was professional journey I getmarried and had children. They had also been a supporter and were always behind my back. If Ihad to give time to my children, then my professional journey hadn’t gone this far, or I may notbe able to be in the post where I want to. Being the Manager I also get a support from the fellowworkers and in home I have a full support from my family. We have learned how hard the situation is, if your family is with you and they are always therefor u then u can achieve your goals and your professional career and life will run smoothly.Money and post are nothing if your family isn’t with you.The next question we asked him was “What are your strong and weak points that will help us tomotivate and need to be removed from us?”. He replied to our question by saying that heconsiders his habit of not getting worried during hard situations to be his biggest strength/strongpoint. He said there will be very difficult times during work time even if you work in a high postfor the company. During this time, you should think that when you came into this world youcame crying but made everyone else happy and when you go from this world you will makeeveryone cry. As his weak point, he considers his habit of considering everyone loyal. He saidthat he is loyal and he thinks that other people are also loyal and faithful because of which he hadto leave many jobs. He said that he always believed in saying the truth and did not know how toflatter with people.
Another question was more focused on his life experience and it was like this, “From your pastexperience and difficulties, how would you suggest us to guide our carrier?”. And as we learneda lot about his background. He also didn’t hesitate to give us the fact answer. And he was like, “Iwould recommend your study/education first”. He prioritized education over everything. Aftergaining knowledge and ideas, you can do anything. You can understand the basics of everythingin today’s modern world. He focused on completing your basic education first and then alongwith education, you can get certain amount of money relating jobs, which can help you in yourpocket money expenses, he added. He also said that we shouldn’t rely on parents’ money. Thatwill not show the actual value of money, that will not make us feel the value of money, insteadwe should be able to earn ourselves though its only sufficient for our pocket money as a part-time job after our college. That will make us feel about the value of money. But doesn’t mean torun after money, he wants to focus on education first and along with education, side by side wecan join some parttime jobs. The next question we asked him was about his personal life and professional life.Like “How doyou balance and align your personal and professional life by communicating with your familyabout their interests in the business world”. He said it was the hardest problem of everyprofessional worker. There are 5 members in my family my mother, wife, daughter, son and me.Personally, I may not have asked my family members about their interests but my personalinterest to give everything to them either economically or giving time I always try to give themwhen they need. No matter how much time I spend with my family or help financially, myfamily are satisfied so that’s why I can proudly say that I balance my both professional andpersonal life. Without knowing their needs, I always try to give what I can, and I think I hadalways completed their interest. I think I am unable to read their interest because being a socialperson there is only one day holiday in a week also being social, we have to go here and there. Inthis way I am managing my personal and professional life.We have learned that u should also give time to your family also. We should make a properbalance between personal and professional life which will lead to a better and beautiful life. The last question we asked him was “What are the lessons that you get from your experience?”.He replied to our question by saying that it is easy to say anything, but it is very difficult to doanything. He said that he wanted to become an engineer as he was also good in his studies but
due to the poor condition of his family, he was not able to do so. He said “I have told you not torun behind money but when I was your age I began working. I feel very sad when I rememberthat moment. If I had not run behind in money during that time my life would have beendifferent”. At last, he said, “You should know the value of money, but you should not run behindmoney. First, you should focus on your study and later on earning money.”
My own learning experience out of the interview:As, I found myself engrossed in the interviewee's story, listening intently to every word as hedescribed how a difficult upbringing led to a prosperous career in finance. The candor of hisupbringing by a single mother and the difficulties he encountered would inspire compassion andrespect.I would find great resonance in hearing about his perseverance and commitment to overcomingthese obstacles. Despite his struggles, his dedication to giving his kids a better life would serveas a reminder of the enormous sacrifices parents frequently make on behalf of his family. Ienthusiastically absorbed their insights into the management techniques, the nuances of financialmanagement, and the growth of the business from their vast experience as a bank managerspanning over 25 years. His tales and insights would offer a priceless window into the innerworkings of a taxing industry. As the interviewee's difficulties with connection to money come up, I can't help but think backon my own experiences with achievement and material prosperity. His candor on how thisattachment resulted in a major setback would be a potent reminder of the value of equilibriumand self-awareness in life. I would try to foster an atmosphere of empathy and understandingthroughout the interview so that the interviewee could speak candidly and freely about theirexperiences. Their openness in sharing their story would make us feel more connected to oneanother and respectful of one another.I would feel incredibly enhanced by the experience by the time the interview ended. I would findmyself thinking about the interviewee's narrative and reflecting on my beliefs, objectives, andaspirations. I would be inspired and guided by his path, which would serve as a constantreminder of the human spirit's resiliency and the transformational potential of tenacity and drive.
