Responses must show thought, reflection, pondering and depth with college-level writing skills. 1.Provide a simple statement answering who you shared with.I shared it with my nephew who is not a member.your response2.In a brief paragraph, identify the questions or insights from your personal study that informed your thinking as you prepared for your discussion. .As I pondered what to write and to whom, the topic of "How have God's prophets offeredsecurity and protection to the institutions of family and marriage?" It kept coming again and again. Itbreaks my heart to see my nephew so absorbed in the material world; She is struggling to quit pornbecause she was addicted to it in the first place.3.In 1-2 paragraph(s), write about what you learned as a result of this conversation. What was this conversation about? What direct lines or quotes from our reading material or your research were you referencing or thinking about as you had this intentional conversation? I had no idea that my sister wants to stop watching pornographic movies, but as soon aswe startedtalking about it, I knew that was the direction I needed to take it in order to beable to assist her inovercoming her addiction. As I asked her what she thought aboutGod's prophets and how they bringshelter and protection in families and marriages, herheart opened up to me and poured out a burdenthat she had been carrying for a very longtimeI was able to convey some of the information and read from Elder Dallin H. Oaks's talk titled"Pornography." I focused a lot of my attention on the passage that said somethingalong the lines of,"Pornography hinders one's ability to enjoy a normal emotional romantic, and spiritual relationship witha person of the opposite sex." It weakens themoral barriers that protect against behavior that isinappropriate, abnormal, or illegal.Patrons of pornography are more likely to act out what they haveseen on the screen, regardless of the consequences for both their own lives and the lives of others, astheirconsciences become desensitized. Another addictive activity is pornography. It affects one'sabilityto make decisions, and it "hooks" its consumers, luring them back compulsively formore and more.
4.In 1-2 paragraph(s), write about what you learned as a result of this conversation. Answer the following questions: oWhat deepened connections and insights did you feel because of this conversation? oWhat did you agree/disagree with in your discussions? How did you handle this? oDid anything discussed change your thinking? If so, what and how? oHow will you build on this knowledge to strengthen your family (now and/or in the future)? oWhat do you feel inspired to do now that you have read the material and engaged in this conversation? As I reflected about the conversation I had with my sister, two things becameabundantly clear to me.The first issue is the burden that individuals are carrying, whichthey are just holding onto till they havesomeone to talk to so that they can finally let it go.The second issue is the will to break free fromaddictions but the lack of knowledgenecessary to do so, including who to consult and how to proceed. The primary focus of thechat was on offering support to my sister and locating resources that couldassist her inovercoming her addiction. We eventually arrived at a solution that she could implement, and I requested our younger sister toencourage her to keep her distance from anytechnological gadgets that would tempt her to give in tothe temptation.Reference(s) used:Click or tap here to enter name.Participating in pornographic activities makes it difficult or a person to have healthy emotional, romantic, and spiritual connections with people of the opposite sex."
