Social media is starting to become an essential part of our everyday lives especially within our jobs, businesses, and/or careers. According to the article, “Staying Professional on Social Media”, there are four strategies to incorporate when communicating professionally through social media. These four strategies would include guarding your reputation, watching your language, monitoring your privacy, and keeping your work posts and/or comments positive. (Rock, N.D.).I tend to take a social media break every month for around one to two weeks and that is because it helps my mental health by not worrying and/or stressing about things that I can’t control. Before I went on my social media break, one of my high school acquaintances started baking cakes and other desserts for fun. After posting pictures of the results on snapchat, a few people started to request those cakes and they would post the results on Snapchat and Facebook as well. Those people helped my high school acquaintance start a little business from baking cakes and desserts for fun!My current profession and/or specific field of study is a psychologist. According to the article, “Social Media Marketing 101 for Therapists”, there are six social media marketing strategies for therapists. These six strategies would include choosing the right social media platform, developing content that resonates with your audience, maintaining a professional image, engaging with your audience, connecting with other professionals, and utilizing paid advertising on social media.
