1.Children with Cerebral Palsy need assistive learning devices because their fine motor skills limit their ability to use writing utensils and learn to read/write. JD McCarty is an organization that provides treatment for developmentally disabled children throughout the state of Oklahoma and promotes independence through their services. Our class has been tasked with designing an assistive writing device that will not only allow children with cerebral palsy the opportunity to learn to write, but also provide autonomy to children that may never have been able to write on their own without the use of our devices or the work that JD McCarty provides Requirements: The final design must be a testable prototype. Constraints: The project must be portable, project must be completed within a $50 budget, adjustable to hand operator(s), design may not include dangerous projectiles, fire explosives, fire explosives, sharp objects, oxidizing chemical reactions, high heat, etc.project must be designed tio be assembled andtested within the allotted time for the project, must be designed per the requirments and constraints set by the community partner, must work for both left and rights hands, light enough to be able to wear for long periods for long periods of time.

The design is extendable and can be attached at the wrist or arm with velcro. The extendable portion is made with PCP pipe. The wrist portion is a strap made with velcro with fabric under to make it comfortable for the user. And we plan to use a strong clip as the clip to hold the pencil.we plan to order the velcro from Amazon drill holes into the two sides. And we plan to strap the velcro to use as a handle and we will use clips to hold the pencil or other writing material. We

made the rapid prototype at out cardboard and tape. We used a rubber brand to represent the velcro strap.and clips to represent the holding clips.3.Ideation:We chose the design we ended up with because it made the most sense as once speaking with the client. Also that design made the most sense with the clients needs. We chose that criteria

because we wanted to priortize the transition to independent use and user comfortability
