The authors article discusses her challenges with mental illness and describes how she felt while she was in this dark void. I believe this fits the criteria of being specific and personal because she specifically talks about how her hobby of climbing saved her from suicide. She relates her decision to keep going to climbing by stating that she would rather keep climbing then jump even though it was the harder decision. This is a positive narrative because she describes the dark place she was and how she got out. She states, “Now, I'm less focused on the darkness. Instead, I think about the joy I feel in conquering it and the tool I used.”. This lets others know that are in a similar place that there is hope and to not give up making this article a positive narrative and fits the criteria of a “This I Believe” piece.
