SPH 3UFinal Evaluation Outline - 2019Your final evaluation in this course will be in two parts: an investigation and a written exam. Part A - Investigation You will be given the opportunity to conduct an investigation in an area of interestrelated to at least one unit of study in the course. You will apply the skills you have learned this term to showcase what you have learned. I can demonstrate my scientific investigation skills by:A) Initiating and Planningdesign a unique real-life questionrelated to at least one or two units in this course plan and research your topic to learn more describe the process using correct physics terminology identify any social and environmental impactrelated to your topicB) Performing and Recordingconduct an investigation by collecting data using the skills you have learnedrecord these results using scientific conventions use multiple trials to reduce random error in your resultsC) Analysing and Interpretingapply your knowledge of physics to analyze your resultsidentify any assumptions and possible errorsprovide a detailed explanation of any calculationscalculations are accurateD) Communicatingcalculations were clear and showed all stepsgraphs, tables, were labeled and formatted correctlysignificant figures, units, use of scientific notation was correctuse APA format for referencesYou will summarize your findings through a product of your choice. For example, this could be a written report, website, or a video blog.

Part B – In Class Written ExamYou will need to complete at 25-minute written exam for each unit NOT covered in your investigation. I can demonstrate an understanding of uniform and non-uniform linear motion, in one and two dimensions. (Kinematics)I can demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between changes in velocity and unbalanced forces in one dimension. (Forces)I can demonstrate an understanding of work, efficiency, power, gravitational potential energy, kinetic energy, nuclear energy, and thermal energy and its transfer (heat).              (Energy & Society)I can demonstrate an understanding of the properties of mechanical waves and sound and of the principles underlying their production, transmission, interaction, and reception.(Waves & Sound)I can demonstrate an understanding of the properties of magnetic fields, the principles of current and electron flow, and the operation of selected technologies that use these properties and principles to produce and transmit electrical energy.
