Task 2During the past two weeks, I learned more about the consulting process and how it may affect teams as a consultant. The internal/external consultant roles allowed me to see that one was not necessarily better than the other. I have learned the value in reflecting on an organization's history with change management. People view life through the lens of their own values and experiences and I believe that has influenced the development and definitions of Organizational Development. This is one area where I feel I perform well in. The first thing I do when I enter an organization is observation. The list of competencies in the text allowed me to see that I possess many of them already in my current line of work. We discussed the ladder of inference was used to draw conclusions about what evidence you are using. The Ladder of Inference describes the human behavior. Sometimes we don’t act on accurate information. We can tend to see patterns and make inference and judgements that draw conclusions quickly from just a little bit of information. It’s very dangerous to go up the ladder too quickly. Reality does not shape our actions, but our perception of the reality shapes our actions. It also helps to us to make better decisions, based upon true facts and reality. Double loop learning cultivates our creativity and innovation, its action science with a need to learn to succeed or to survive. It optimizes efficiency and outcomes.
