Learning Plan Assignment for WBL StudentsFill out the learning plan you have been given as if you are your employer rating youon your work performance. Be honest…nobody should be highly effective in every category. We all have room for improvement. Most of you probably hover between progressing and effective at this point in your work lives.If you are not employed, rate yourself as a student based on the categories given.Once you are done, write a reflection below about one of two things. Option one is for those of you who are employed. Write at least two paragraphs about how you show your strengths and weaknesses in the workplace. Give specific examples where you can.Option 2 is for those of you who are not yet employed. Write at least two paragraphs that discuss what you have been doing to try to find a job. Where have you applied or interviewed? What is your process for checking back with employers after you have applied? What obstacles do you seem to be facing in trying to find employment?
Even though I am not employed, I have been doing volunteer work in the community.I have also submitted many job applications at a lot places around my neighborhood. During my application process, I have applied atMcdonalds, Wendys, Weis, Giant, KFC, AMC Theaters, Five Below, Autozone, Walmart, Target, Chik Fil A, Burger King, Royal Farms, Best Buy,BJ’s and Dave and Busters. I have interviewed with Wendys on Belair Roadand two McDonalds, one at 9106 Joppa Road and the other one at 2107 Joppa Road but none of them ever called me back.In order to check back with the interviewers I follow up with them by calling them after one weekof not hearing anything, but they just keep telling me to keep calling back and no one ever gets back to me.I have run into some obstacles such as most of the places I have applied toeither do not call me back or do not consider me for the job. Also, another obstacle is if I do get the interview, I do not ever hear back from the hiringmanager, even after I call back many times, which is pretty frustrating. To help overcome these obstacles I plan to keep submitting applications untilsomeone gives me a chance.I will try going back to the jobs I apply to in person to see if I can talk to someone since they don’t call back or sometimes won't answer the phone. Also for future interviews I will try to be less nervous, give good answers and ask them good questions at the end. I anticipate having a job by a few months because I really need to start gaining some work experience and making some money for myself before I graduate.
