Alice Chelpka1/10/2024 - 1/15/2024Alexander the “Grate”?We will learn about Alexander's history, accomplishments, and if he should be called great.Alexander was 20 years old when his father was murdered, and he was put in charge of his father's Kingdom, which at the time was surrounded by dangerous enemies. Someone tried to persuade Alexander to give up on thoughts of keeping hold of the Grecians by force and to try gentler means. But Alexander rejected the council, saying it was weak. He thought it would be more prudent to secure himself by resolution and magnanimity. Sometimes, when Alexander was going to supper, he got the news that a man by the name of Darius, his mother, wife, and two unmarried daughters was put with the rest of the prisoners, and they thought that serious was death. Alexander sent a letter to the women that Darius was not dead, that they wouldn't need to fear Alexander, and that he would provide them with everything that they used to get from dairy. This letter was very kind and welcoming to the women. (HIS0900 LUOA)Alexander's accomplishments made a change that majorly impacted the world as we know it today. If it weren't for Alexander studying the Greek culture, Christianity wouldn't have spread as it did, and the Bible probably wouldn't have been translated. Alexander opened up more trade routes throughout his Kingdom, which helped kingdoms and soldiers grow, and if he hadn't those kingdoms and villages, he probably would have fallen and dictated. He also founded some of these cities, and if he hadn't built those cities, they would have never existed. Alexander was known for being a great military leader, which we can all use as an example for the rest of our lives. (Macedonia & Alexander)Alexander made a huge difference with all his accomplishments, which is probablywhy we have learned to call him Alexander the Great. Some people might say that him taking Grecians by force and not heading the advice of rolling the Grecian with gentler means. They might believe that Alexander doesn't deserve to be calledgreat. But they forget that we all aren't perfect and we make mistakes all the time, and that doesn't mean we should half them out, just like how God hasn't given up on us.Alexander started out trying to conquer the Greeks by force and not by gentler means. To be more kind to his people and the people he has conquered.
Alexander made many accomplishments throughout his life, which encouraged us to call him great throughout history.
