What is art to me?To me, I believe that art is a profound expression of human experiences. In fact, it is a language beyond words that conveys ideas, emotions, and perspectives. Art transcends the boundaries of time, culture, and medium and enables us to connect with others on a deeply intellectual and emotional level. I have always been fascinated with art, and I can tell that art is not confined to the canvas, the stage or the sculpture. You can find it in the mundane and extraordinary, in the accidental or intentional circumstances. You will agree with me that art is subjective, but at the same time, it embodies intention and impact. The intention describes the purpose or message the artist had in mind when creating it, and the impact is how the piece will affect the audience. I believe that when art has intention and impact, it becomes a powerful tool that can evoke various responses from the audience. Let’s look at an example of one of the famous artworks by Vincent van Gogh, the Starry Night. I have been fascinated by this painting for a long time, and I believe it is more than just a depiction of a night sky. It is also a visual representation of the artist’s inner turmoil and his deep connection to the world around him. Look at the swirling skies, the vibrant colors, and the almost otherworldly landscape; don’t they evoke a sense of both wonder and melancholy? The intention behind the art was not merely to recreate a scene but to convey an emotion, a state of mind, and this has resonated with many viewers across generations. Another example is Banksy’s Girl with Balloon. When I first saw this artwork, I was so impressed. It is a simple piece, yet provocative. The image is an emotional show of loss, hope, and fragility of dreams. When I look at this artwork, I clearly see Banksy’s intention – to enable us to see our issues through the lens of society. I think the impact is undeniable as the image symbolises everything from personal loss to the fleeting nature of innocence. When we look at these two examples, we see that art is not

just in the visual but also how it connects the artist and the audience. This is what art is to me – the bridge. It is a way of communicating the inexpressible with the world. The Starry NightGirl with Balloon.
