Short Paper: What Sustainability Means to You?What does sustainabilitymean to me? Is a matter that needs to be prevented from a cause regarding of a situation that will interfere with future generations. Where something falls into place and ruins an environment, it will affect others in the future due to changes in its nature. In my experience of sustainability, I buy second-hand from everything in general – clothing to appliances; but my main is mostly clothing (thrift shopping). Why spend money on high fashion when you can buy secondhand clothes, it is cheap and affordable! I separate my waste goods so recycle monetarily which helps me a lot. Selling your trash is a good lifesaver because, in the end, the money comes in. I walk to work a lot due to living close to my workplace which saves me money than buying an Uber. Walking to work is a great help because you are exercising and saving money at the same time. I use recyclable containers from restaurants or small business vendors to the best ability. I collect it all then to buy containers at stores which is also another method of saving money. Lastly, I use reusable bags when I go out shopping which is easier than using plastic bags. I always keep a recycle-free shopping bag from my local market, where I don’t use their plastic bags to store my groceries, I use my shopping bag. How would I describe my sustainability in my daily life? I do not go online shopping like I used to before. Now I am obsessively thrift shopping or trading with other people which saves me money – from clothes, appliances, and electronics. I buy a lot of second-hand clothes because it is cheap and affordable, doesn’t matter the brand as long it is on your budget. I trade with close friends on secondhand things, because why spend hundreds of dollars on expensive products when you can also get a trade inn? And the secondary sustainable thing I do that saves the environment and from spending money, I have this habit of collecting reusable containers. From restaurants, vendors, or parties, I always collect a reusable container. You do not have to spend money on buying containers from stores where you can get them for free at other places. From 2
Short Paper: What Sustainability Means to You?what I learn from my elders, you can wash your behind instead of using toilet tissue. Because I learn that toilet tissue does not fully clean your bowels and solidly wipe away the bacteria your feces hold. When washing your behind with water with soap, it is more hygienic and eliminates the bacteria from your bowels. How do my actions or behavior impact the environment? I mainly sustain myself by spending money on an Uber where I presently walk to work. I work at my local McDonald’s in Fayetteville, North Carolina. As a person who does not own a car but also saves money to get one, I walk to work on a daily considering I live near my workplace. Walking to work helps me a lot because I save so much money from just commuting to walk to work and at the same time I am also exercising. But when I do spend money on an Uber for me to go to work - when the going gets tough, my actions do affect me. 3
