Calvin Coolidge was Harding’s VP, Charles Evans Hughes was his secretary of state, and Andrew Mellon and Herbert Hoover were in the treasury. 4.Using your text, outside research, and the documents briefly describe the scandals associated with Harding's presidency. What role did the Attorney General, Secretary of Interior, and head of the Veterans' Bureau play in the scandals? One major scandal led by the Secretary of Interior was the Teapot Dome Scandal in which Albert Fall convinced Harding to set aside oil for the US Navy. 5.Describe the testimony of Doheny in the Senate investigation of the Secretary of the Interior. Doheny’s testimony was that that it was a discussion between two can=binet members. 6.How and where did Harding die? He died of a heart attack in San Francisco while on tour. 7.Describe Coolidge's political background. What was America trying to do internationally during this time period? Cite specific examples. America was attempting so hard to stay out of war. 12. If America had been more involved in the League and in preventing major international disputes, could World War II have been avoided?I think WWII was inevitable but It might have been less impactful and harsh.
