Beat Auburn Beat Hunger was founded in 1994 by Henry Lipsy, director of West Alabama Food Bank. Lipsy came up with the idea of a friendly competition between the University of Alabama and Auburn to raise canned food for the hungry and needy in the state of Alabama (BeatAuburnBeatHunger.edu ).
