Tintin falls asleep for a short amount of time and wakes up to find the lifeboat on fire and Haddock drunk. When Tintin tries to extinguish the fire, Haddock gets angry and pushes Tintin, capsizing the boat. Suddenly, a seaplane attacks them with machine guns.
