Andrew Weil, M.D., has a body, mind and spirit approach when it comes to alternative medicine. One thing Dr. Weil discusses is the use and importance of breathing exercises. Why is proper breathing important? Well, breathing is important to the body in the sense that you can expel carbon dioxide from your lungs. Anybody who uses these techniques can benefit greatly and help reduce the effects of stress and anxiety. These exercises help stress, anxiety, promotes better sleep, revives you when tired, or just puts you in a zen state. These breathing techniques can replace anxiety medication if done correctly on a regular basis. Andrew Weil does a great job at explaining how to do each of the breathing exercises correctly and explains why it is used the way it is.
