Interesting Boxer “A horse is worth more than riches” (Unknown). This is true of a horse in the book Animal Farm by George Orwell. Boxer is one of the animals that helps build the farm up after the animals go through a revolution and take over the farm from the humans. Throughout the book, Boxer works hard to make sure that the farm has what they need to be successful. Boxer is an interesting character because he is extremely powerful, hardworking even though he is aware of what is going on, and has a loyalty to all of the animals that aren’t loyal to him.

He knows in his heart that Snowball was good and that before Napoleon took over he knew Snowball wanted the farm to succeed. After Snowball is gone, Squealer is talking to the other animals and Boxer replies to him, “‘I do not believe that Snowball was a traitor at the beginning,’” (Orwell 81). Boxer gets glared at for saying this but it shows that he is aware that Napoleon is running things differently than Snowball would have and that Snowball had good intentions. Boxer says this even though he is aware that Napoleon is taking over. This is also shown when the battle of the windmill takes place. The humans come in and blow up the windmill that the animals have worked so hard to build. Squealer comes in and announces that all of their work had paid off even though the windmill was knocked down. Boxer replies, “‘then we have won back what we had before’” (Orwell 105). Boxer is aware that they will have to rebuild the windmill and that he will have to do the majority of the work even though he is older now. But, he still goes along with what the pigs have to say even though he knows that they have not won anything. They are literally going to have to start over from the
