Youth Tackle Football Why the interest in youth football lately? Youth football has been getting a bad rep lately because of concerned parents. Parents of football players are concerned for their child’s safety while playing tackle football. Plenty of cities and towns are banning youth football, because of concussions. Research shows that having many concussions may lead to Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, otherwise known as CTE. When it comes to football, safety should be the priority, not banning it. Football can lead to concussions, but so can many other things. Banning youth football would not help at all, although the people wanting to ban it do have some good points. In conclusion, banning youth football is an absurd idea.
(“Difference between a legal & illegal football tackle” Jeremi Davidson, livestrong.com). Some people may say that tackle football is very dangerous, but flag football has more injuries than tackle football. (“Youth flag football: Is it safer than tackle?”, public-health.uiowa.edu). Also, since the equipment and rules has changed, the number of injuries has significantly decreased, making tackle football safer for
Youth football should be put to an end. If a young adult knows the potential consequences of the game and still chooses to play, then they at least made the decision on their own terms as opposed to an eight or nine year old child whose father signed them up for youth
People think banning football would decrease the amount of head injuries, “Characterized by hard tackles and intense speeds, the sport is conducive to a number of serious injuries, but there is one that has received a substantial amount of attention: mild traumatic brain injury and concussions” (Grush). Injuries can be prevented by the coaches focusing more on tackling the right way to anticipate injuries having to do with not doing it the right way. Also, most deaths having to do with football do not have to do with concussions, but with heat strokes. This can be prevented by pushing back the practicing season for football. Another thing, kids and parents know what they are getting into with the dangers and all, but they sign up anyway.
With more and more young people playing football, the risk of players becoming disabled is becoming greater and greater. Depression, behavior that is erratic, headaches, and Alzheimer's disease (which does lead to death) are just some of the long-term effects of football. As a result, children should not play football due to its deadly effects. Another reason is you are probably thinking, "My child is safe; they always have a helmet on when playing football." Guess again, because no particular type of helmet
Since children are not fully developed, it is morally reprehensible to allow them to play such a sport in which they can possibly have life-changing or life-ending injuries. Far too many high school athletes get concussions from playing football (Watson 35). Approximately 100,000 high schoolers report concussions each year
How would you feel if your son were to tell you he wants to play football? You know it can cause him a lot of problems so why allow him to play it? Football is a very tough sport that teaches young boys how to build character but it also has its aftermath, it causes concussions and leads to regret. It is indeed a dangerous sport to play.
What people should do is talk to students from high school and tell them that playing football at their age is bad. It's bad because at their age they should be learning and with the hits they get to the head they can have concussions and damage their brains with the intensive force they play football. Also they can tell them that at their age is bad playing football because in the future when they become older can have problems
Football should be banned in the United States because it can lead to a concussion, can cause brain damage, and can even kill you. When anyone plays football whether it’s professional, college, or high school you can get a concussion. A concussion is also known as traumatic brain injury(TBI), a concussion is caused by the violent movement or jarring the head or neck. Most cases of brain injury are concussions. People who suffer from concussions generally fully recover fast.
Health and contact sports are something parents worry about as over 500 deaths in the past 3 years from contact sports alone are making parents stand out against these sports and if the government doesn 't do anything about it the number of 7% overall contact sports drop will just keep getting lower and lower each time. Dr. William Speight also had this to say “Many other kids have suffered paralyzing spinal injuries”(Pennington). Kids being paralyzed is the fear for many athletes these days and the number f kids getting paralyzed has increases 2% which is equivalent to about 8,000 kids each year which is crazy to think about kids can 't play sports for the rest of thrie and maybe not be able to live their life because of it so next you hear mom or dad i wanna play sports your answer should be a simple NO. Kids under 10 need to stop playing contact sports because 45% of kids under 10 getting hurt are from contact sports and 5% of the time its ending that kids chances to play sports in the feature, Not to mention contact sports can also make kids go to their fullest and being burned out and although contact provide some kids will useful tools in life most of the time there is more negative than positive. Health, Age, Contact, parents, are some of the many reasons contact sports can be very dangerous for the youth.
But when athletes hit their heads, the impact can shake up their brains and cause concussions. A concussion is a brain injury that leads to problems like dizziness, confusion, and nausea. (Source #1). If they banned football for kids, then kids wouldn’t have to worry about concussions. It is clear that kids shouldn’t be able to play football because it injures the kid’s brain.
Dr. Bennet Omalu stated that children's brain do not fully develop until they are about in the 18-25 years old range. This would end up making their brains more likely to be harmed and damaged and if a child receives many repeated blows to the head they can end up with permanent brain damage which can also lead to bad side effects later in life. Concussions and injuries to the head are a big problem in football. So why should we allow the most vulnerable to be put in harm's way and risk their futures? The answer is we should
2.6 million sports related emergency room visits a year; 25,376 children under 19 sent to the emergency room for traumatic brain injury each year (Merkel). Contact sports, a sport in which the participants necessarily come into bodily contact with one another, like football have become more popular among children and they have started to play the sport at earlier ages as well. Although physical activity is beneficial in many ways, contact sports creates many health risks: concussions, chronic traumatic encephalopathy, brain damage, broken bones, and broken growth plates. Because of all of these risks, contact sports should be banned for people under 18. To begin, contact sports should be banned for children under 18 because of the risk of
Youth football is a sport that is played in various places, many people think that it is not dangerous and kids should be able to play, while others think that this sport is too dangerous and should not be played. Based off of all the evidence that I have found through research, it has let me to agreeing with the fact that youth football is too dangerous for young children to be playing. This sport has pros to it, some of which are very good, but the con side outways it with extraordinary pieces of evidence, these are the things showing that this sport is not to be played at this age and overall. There are a few pieces of evidence and facts that show proof of why it is dangerous and why this can’t be stopped. Some of the reasons are very serious, such as CTE which is a brain disease caused by rapid hits to the brain, this has lifetime affects and changes you in many ways, in worst cases this can even cause death.
In this day and age with professional athletes being at the top of the social spectrum, youth sports have gotten very popular. “More than 26 million children ages 6 to 17 played team sports in 2014(Rosenwald).” Youth sports are very popular because it brings the great feeling of being on a team. When you are on a team you feel like you can do anything together, and nothing is stopping you. There are also many flaws in youth sports.
It is a big discussion and severe problem kids and parents have on playing the sport. Children, parents, coaches, siblings, peers, teammates are all are affected. Kids play football every season while getting hurt much of the time. Kids get life changing as well as ending injuries every day. Kids get concussions that lead to CTE and some also get serious neck injuries and are sometimes paralyzed for the rest of their lives.
