The Mexican-American War occurred between 1846 and 1848 in Texas. The War took place between the area of the Rio Grande and Nueces River. This prohibited further Americans immigrating into Texas & made slaves illegal. Americans undoubtedly stopped following said Mexican laws. Americans of course continued to cross the border illegally, and also brought their slaves. The call for independence caused a rebellion, the battle at the Alamo and the Battle of San Jacinto both took place in this war.
