As a starting point, dreams are simulations that enact a person’s life concerns and interests. Dreams are recollections of immediate and past experiences. Sigmund Freud, the father of psychoanalysis, defines dream as the fulfillment of a wish. Sometimes, dreams appear to be an expression of wishes and the satisfaction of desires. Today, the meaning of dreams can take many forms as to what extent psychologists shed light on this subject. Dreams arise out of mental conflicts and is an attempt to solve our problems. Sometimes a dream gives a warning of danger, but if you listen to your dreams and change your ways the danger won’t necessarily happen. Everyone feels hopeless at times, but dreams can give a purpose in life. Dreams and aspirations can help people with success. Dreams can also help people make decisions, become better, and to have a goal or purpose in their lives. In Of Mice and Men and the Only Daughter, dreams and aspirations affect the characters' relationships both positively and negatively.
The American Dream A dream is a vision, a goal where a person believes in achieving. Dreams are a source of motivation and inspiration that help humans get through the day to reach their goals, whether these dreams are achieving a certain career, traveling or finding happiness/love. To dream is to desire an achievement which seems unobtainable. Most everyone has trouble convincing themselves that their dreams are within reach. Jim Carrey once said, “So many of us choose our path out of fear disguised as practicality.” This is a result of allowing dreams to remain dreams and, instead, opting to take a more reliable path. In doing so, a sense of emptiness that never completely dies out is often developed.
