This year is important for me; now, I am a senior In Mercy College. I remember being a freshman and not understanding the idea of what life was outside high school. The transition was scary because I had to start over again; however, the experience was worthwhile. I am grateful for Mercy College for providing me with the scholarships that I needed to further my education. I hope to own my practice as a psychologist and I am here to thank my mother for supporting my decision.
I have a strong goal, which is to become a child psychologist. I enjoy working with children and have done so for the past seven years in my church. I volunteer with a religious education teacher and assist her with the children ages six to eight. This has been an amazing experience for me because it gives me a clear understanding on how to work with students in a classroom setting. I know that the process of College is not an easy task, and everyday my mother motivates to

One of the activities I had the opportunity of joining was an internship program called Sobro. This program gave me the privilege to review my five-year career plans and influenced my choice to get involved with child psychology. I presented my personal goal to a Sobro group at Starbucks, which involved me with starting my own business in the future, and I know that this is possible as long as I stay persistent with my plan . This scholarship would prevent me from paying any balance in the Fall of 2018 and it makes it easier for me not to have any financial burdens. My only dream is to work with children. I know that it will be costly but will give me a rewarding career for my life. I know that College is the first step toward my goal and in time it will become my reality. It just takes patience and determination but one day I will become a psychologist. I just hope to earn this scholarship to cover tuition and other additional
As I end my sophomore year at Old Dominion University I think about all that I have accomplished in the past two years. I think about traveling to Peru and volunteering at an Hogar and Hospital as a Freshmen, Becoming Co-President of the Women’s ministry for ODU’s Catholic Campus Ministry, and to working hard and receiving good grades in all my classes. Not only do I think about all the work that I have done so far but I also think about my family and all the sacrifices they have made for me. I think about my parents waking up early every day to go to work just so we could have food on the table and a roof over our heads.
That path requires a great deal of time and effort to educate myself in understanding people. Any scholarship I receive will go towards that mission. With any contributions made towards the cost of living, books, and school materials, I will be able to spend more time thoroughly studying my textbooks beyond what is expected of me in the classroom, participate in any case studied I can get my hands on, search for internships, enjoying the privilege of being a student while taking advantage of all of VCUs resources.
With fewer financial worries, I could pursue internships and research opportunities that would enhance my learning experience and create connections to the professional world. In addition to that, this scholarship would not only address my immediate financial needs but would also alleviate the financial burden on my family. Growing up, I witnessed firsthand the challenges my immigrant parents faced in providing for our family's basic needs. Their relentless determination and unwavering support motivated me to strive for a brighter future. By lessening their financial responsibilities towards my education, my parents could focus their time and resources to address their own financial
I still live in the same apartment that I grew up in, and, while my parents have tried to give me as much as possible, much of the expenses I have for school and living are money that I have made at my job. I am the first child in my family to graduate college, and in doing so I have inspired my younger brother who will soon by attending a four year university as well. Currently, my father works two jobs as a janitor and as a factory worker, and my mother cleans homes, and much of the financial compensation they receive goes towards paying rent and food. This scholarship will alleviate much of the financial burden that myself and my family members currently face.
If your heart is set on a certain career and you want or require a degree, you can use those scholarships to pave the way to your dreams of having a lifelong career that you furthered your education for. Even if your plans don’t work out, as long as you have your degree in a field
I am a hard worker, I understand college is my opportunity in life, and I will not waste the opportunity. The scholarship will go to good use in helping me achieve my
My Education goals are why I chose APUS, When I graduated from high school in 2014 I started my ROP Dental Assisting program to become a Certified Dental assistant in the state of California so that I could get my foot in the door in Dentistry to one day become a Dental Hygienist. But now here I am two years later working as a full time dental assistant and I have no passion or desire in pursuing in becoming a Hygienist because its not something I feel I could really be happy with and do for the rest of my life. My real passion has always been with children I have always loved working with children weather it was when I was working at a daycare in high school or when I was a cheerleading coach for young girls between the ages of 4-9, I have
Jesse Owens once said, “[w]e all have dreams. But in order to make that dream a reality, it takes an awful lot of determination, dedication, self-discipline, and effort.” The dreams that I have for my life aren’t going happen overnight, they are going to take time, determination, self-discipline, and effort. Along with taking time and effort, I’m going to take my personal qualities and put them to work. I believe I’m a good applicant for this scholarship because I have good work ethic, good relationships with people, but I also have good characteristics including being goal oriented.
Just as with many of my previous academic moments it continued the drive I had already had. While my education continued to teach me valuable lessons and give me hands on experience I began to gain a stronger sense rooted in development and the protection of others by hopefully continuing my education at Loyola University Chicago in the Masters of Social Work/Masters of Arts in Social Justice Program which would give me the opportunity to not only eventually become a social worker with the Department of Social Services (DSS), with a school, or a guardian ad litem but to do that work effectively with the chance that would be afforded to me of an academic background steeped in social work as well as social justice teachings. This program in particular continues the undergraduate work and furthers my education on my path to my
This scholarship will be the backbone of my college education as I will start off with the
As I begin my college education, I want to continue doing my best in order to accomplish my goal of becoming a registered nurse. With the scholarship money I can have the peace of mind of solemnly focusing on college. Students who have to work to continue their education have trouble focusing on school and do not have the extra time to study or go to tutoring sessions. In many cases, having to work while attending college usually leads to failing or dropping the class due to extra stress and the idea of income. As well, this scholarship will give me more time to focus on my education and to continue my volunteer work helping the
I have come across some inspirational teachers who have had a great importance in my life in making decisions and choices by following their teachings. Being able to perform the same inspirational function in the lives of these children and helping them become something valuable in the future will be truly amazing. It's fascinating seeing a child evolving in front of your eyes, under your guidance and helping them get back on their feet when they fall. Whilst applying for colleges and picking the right subjects for me, I received very little guidance in what route I should take and so because of this I was unsure of what I wanted to do in the future. After months of searching a role I wanted to pursue, I finally realised I wanted to base my career around children
I already know I will need to be paying for the majority of my college tuition, which is why I have worked so hard and had a job since I was 16. I know many students around my financial status whose parents are paying for all of their college, but for my family this isn’t the case. The tuition will fall mainly on my shoulders, and I believe I deserve this scholarship to help me pay for
Through this program, I will have access to a variety of jobs and through that I will be able to find what I really want to become. My ultimate desire in life is to study what I enjoy, to live and pursue a happy life by doing things I like to do. Moreover, using the money I gained and the talent I have to serve people who need help and for God’s glory. Right now, I only have a strong motivation to serve people, but I need to be more prepared, trained, educated, and exposed to various perspectives in order to be more effective in helping people lead them toward
In many aspects, it can be difficult pursuing a career in the Arts. Whether that is Visual Arts, Performing Arts, or any art form of the sort, there is only a chance you may greatly succeed. Extreme ambition and passion is what is needed to fulfill a lasting career. That is what I am hoping this scholarship will do for me. Growing up, every parent wants their child to be a doctor, firefighter, the usual “good paying” jobs.
