Our modern world would be changed if worship of the Mother Goddess were once again the most popular spirituality on the plant because, women would have a new-found respect. Not only from men, but from women to women as well. Women’s rights would be apparent and equal to those of men. Sex would be viewed in a different light. And, compassion would be more evident in everyday life. With the Mother Goddess back, the right to be a woman would be just that. It wouldn’t have to be demanded or worked for, it would be given. Male dominance would no longer be prominent. Women would have the right to walk down the street without being the target of a “cat call “, or whistling. Women would have the right to equal pay. Women would have the right to their body and the choice to choose what to do in terms of an abortion or in anything relating to their body. Women would be treated equally by their husbands and or wives. “I rub your feet, you rub mine.” With the Mother Goddess being the most popular spirituality on the planet; sex or sexuality would be considered sacred and beautiful. Sex would not be deemed as “whorelike” or dirty. Women wouldn’t feel guilt or shame when having sex. Judgement would no longer be an issue. Double-standards would be nonexistent …show more content…
When women love, they love unconditionally and with their whole heart. Women work hard to build strong foundations for their families and things that they believe in. It is built in women’s hearts to nurture and to feel compassion. It is more likely for a woman to offer help, a shoulder to cry or lean on, give a hug to someone in need, than a man. As a mother, women teach compassion to not only their children, but to people’s lives they have touched. Compassion is something so many people lack in today’s world. Learning from Mother Goddess as a spiritual leader would help change that. Compassion leads to empathy, peace, and
Women were granted the right to be just like men. Women were denied many things like jobs, an education, and the right to vote. Activists created the women’s suffrage movement, which helped them achieve their goal of equality and become a more powerful force in the nation. One of the great positives was that women’s right
This is empowering for women because it promotes ideologies around female fortitude and resilience. Fire is the most aggressive of the four elements, and it’s rightfully so that the deities representing such a dominant element are depicted as female. This gives power to the feminine, and strengthens their respective cultures’ beliefs regarding women’s
Rights to live the same. A right to walk down the street and not be snared upon because she was a woman or because your skin color is different than others. A woman who knew the freedoms that she could release if she worked her hardest and never gave up on what she had so strongly
The depiction individuals have of women has changed drastically over time. From being seen as a lower class gender, to having women politicians today, they have come a long way. Back in the 10th century when An Ancient Tale: When the Sun Was God took place, the role of women differed immensely compared to the way women are portrayed today. Throughout the film, women are depicted as a weaker gender within society, although they can be rulers within their own families.
Women were not allowed to vote, Women had to submit to laws when they had no voice in their formation, Married women had no property rights, Husbands had legal power over and responsibility for their wives to the extent that they could imprison or beat them with impunity, Divorce and child custody laws favored men, giving no rights to women, Women had to pay property taxes although they had no representation in the levying of these taxes,Women couldn’t do professions like medicine or law, Women couldn’t go to colleges because no college would accept
The ideal woman of this time period was a pure, feminine, and submissive woman that was always considered inferior to men mentally and physically (Lavender 1). Women thus became the face of religion, and became their job to convert the men of the country back
But thanks to the women’s suffrage movement courage and tenacity women gained their right and went on to fight for equal representation in other fields such as in the courtroom, marriage, and job market. A world without women’s rights would look like Margaret Atwood famous dystopian novel “The Handmaid’s Tale.” In the story, the government suspends the US Constitution and revokes all women’s rights, and establish a new regime largely based on the hierarchical model of the Old Testament inspired social and religious fanaticism. In this society women’s rights are strictly curtailed, the women are physically segregated by the color of clothing — blue, red, green, striped and white - to signify social class and assigned position ranked highest to
Women would be treated fairly and would have a better life. All women would be equal to men when it comes to working conditions, and it would help most if not all
One may wonder how that would change society around and the twist of the rulings of
Elise Hill, represented the National Woman’s Party, strongly believed securing the freedom of women and feared that if the new amendment were adopted then everything that woman had gain “...would remove them at one stroke” (VOICE OF FREEDOM 156). Florence Kelley, the head of the National Consumers’ League, suggested that women need special protection by the government. She proposed that “women will always need many different from those needed by men” (VOICE OF FREEDOM 156). Both of these position demonstrates how the full equality of women would overturn the economic security and legal protection of mothers and wives. However, there were some women who believed that gaining political equality was enough therefore, women no longer needed special legal protection.
The Homeric Hymns portray Aphrodite, Athena, Artemis and Hestia as strong females who uphold their own beliefs; challenging the “typical” gender stereotypes of the time period. Women in antiquity were expected to follow and uphold certain societal rules, most of these rules emphasized the gender stereotypes that women were perceived as being. The use of the goddesses powers challenge these societal rules and ideas about women. Aphrodite, Athena, Artemis, and Hestia are portrayed in the Homeric Hymns in contrast to ancient stereotypical roles of women being confined to the household; as a result this contrast emphasizes that women can showcase strength, intelligence, and power within society. A women’s life in antiquity was constricted by
In today’s world, it seems to be that women have the same rights as men, but it wasn't always this way. The speech “Women’s Rights to Suffrage” by Susan B Anthony is the most compelling of all. Susan B Anthony persuades the audience that all women should have the same rights as men. It’s shown through the speech that the federal constitution says “we the people”, the government has no right to take away rights from just one gender, and that women are considered people as well. The fact that the constitution says “we the people” is a primary point in this speech.
A. PREAMBLE The terrorist attack on September 11, 2001 has sparked intense curiosity and interest in the world especially the West to learn and investigate the religion of Islam. The Muslim people are portrayed as violent and barbaric, and Islam as oppressive and antithesis to human rights values. Thus, escalation of public opinion about Islam has encouraged debates and forums, and also stirred demonstrations and movements which have compelled the Muslims to speak out their minds and interpret and recast their texts viz. Quran and Sunnah of prophet Mohammad and even question and challenge the prevailing culture and practices, and domineering structures.
In the introduction and the first chapter of Introducing Feminist Theology, Anne Clifford explains multiple concepts regarding feminism, society and Christian theology. Throughout the chapter, Clifford discusses the coming about of feminism and how feminism lead to feminist liberation theology. Firstly, Clifford asserts that a patriarchal world is a white man’s world, oppressing women and people of color. Therefore, feminism came (in three waves) to liberate women from sexism and oppression. According to the author, patriarchy, with its dominance, creates a barrier between interdependence and equality.
We all know that women didn 't have as many rights as men, and they still don 't. Women can now do more than they used to, but they still aren 't equal with men. They have had to fight for so many things like the right to vote and to be equal to men. The 19th amendment, the one that gave women the right to vote, brought us a big step closer. The Equal Rights Movement also gave us the chance to have as many rights as men. Women have always stayed home, cleaned the house, and didn 't even get an education.
