The Civil War was one of America's biggest wars and was all based on the different opinions of the North and the South.When the North wanted to outlaw slavery the South responded when South Carolina seceded from the the Union and brought many other states with them.Clearly the South did not agree with the Norths opinion and wanted to do something about it. After South Carolina seceded Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida followed shortly after. They all believed that slavery should stay in the states and during the war they had slaves build fortifications and cook for the soldiers.A Confederate source published this poster trying to get people to lend their slaves to them for the war."I call upon the Planters of Lowndes and adjacent counties for Negroes to complete the fortifications."This shows that the Confederacy did not want their slaves fighting in the war, but still needed them to do other tasks.The Union wanted their slaves to be part of the war, but not to fight in it."Negroes to complete the fortifications."They thought it would be better for them to do labor for the soldiers because it would the them more time to fight and train.The Confederacy needed slaves, so they the made a promise to
