The Oklahoma City Bombing On April 19, 1995 a tragic terrorist bombing attack happened killing 168 innocent people of all ages. This all took place in Oklahoma City and was executed by Timothy J. McVeigh. The Oklahoma City bombing trial changed awareness for terrorism and how close it is to our everyday life. The trial shows why one man would turn against his country and believe he had no other choice. This shows that Americans were ready to blame others for what happened on the day of the bombing, and it challenges the current American protection against terrorism.

On April 19,1995, at 9:02 a.m., anti-government militant Timothy McVeigh rented a truck packed with explosives and detonated it in front of the nine-story Alfred P. Murrah Federal building in downtown Oklahoma City. The explosion blew off the building's north wall. The bomb destroyed one-third of the building. Rescue efforts were taken up by state, federal, and local law enforcements. A lot of the donations were received from across the country.
It ripped the whole entire north wall off the building. In total, it destroyed all nine floors killing 168 victims, 19 being children, and 650 plus wounded. With a short period of time, they found who was guilty. Even though Timothy was already in jail because he got pulled over for a license plate violation. Eventually his other Army friends surrendered and they were indicted for the bombing in August.
Timothy McVeigh was found guilty of the bombing of the Oklahoma federal building on the morning of April 19, 1995, one of the worst deadliest terrorist attacks on American soil (Biography, 2017). Born in Lockport, New York, McVeigh grew up liking guns and went on to serve in the United States Army during the Persian Gulf War. Upon being honorably discharged out of the United States Army, he became anti-government because he did not like the way the government handled Waco and Ruby Ridge (Murderpedia, 2017). On the morning of April 19, 1995, Timothy McVeigh parked a rented Ryder truck in front of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in downtown Oklahoma City. This bombing ended up leaving 168 people dead and and so many more injured. Timothy McVeigh was the one who set off this blast and was put to his death for these crimes in 2001. Timothy had a partner who's name was Terry Nichols and he ended up receiving life in prison. This tragic bombing was the worse attack from terrorist to have taken place on the United States soil, until September 11, 2001.
Later the Waco bombing occurred on April 19, 1993 (Wagner-Pacifici, 2000). Exactly two years later on the same date April 19, 1995, the Oklahoma bombing was executed by McVeigh. The date was significant and meant to reveal to the public that the attack was in response to the Waco attack since the extremists were not happy with it and had to revenge (Wright, 2011). Investigators revealed that McVeigh attacked the government building in Oklahoma targeting perceived assassinators of the Waco massacre including Janet Reno who issued permission for tear gas attack (Corman, 2016). Although Ruby Ridge attack did not directly led to Waco attack, both the Ruby Ridge and Waco attacks on the extremists amounted to the Oklahoma attacked showing a clear link among the three incidences (Corman,
The Boston Marathon bombing on April 15, 2013 also had a huge impact on the United States. On this day, there was a bomb that went off at the finish line which killed three spectators and also wounded two hundred and sixty people (history.com) There was a manhunt after this happened to catch the suspects. It took them four days to find the first suspect which led to the rest of the suspect findings (history.com). Investigators found out that the plan for this attack was planned on their own and wasn’t connected to a terrorist organization in any way.
Many things happen on a daily bases that can change our world around us. Some can affect our world more than others. We cannot stop it. It is how we live. That is life.
Oklahoma City Bombing “On April 19th, 1995 one of the worst bombings happened on American soil.” Two ex Military Terry Nichols and Timothy McVeigh were planning a terrorist attack in Oklahoma City.(History.com) They had set diesel fuel and bombs in a truck in front of the Alfred P. On April 15,2013 hundreds of people were injured, some didn’t make it out. Some lives were changed by this incident many people lost limbs. The Boston Bombing was tragic day in our history , many people who were injured had amputate their arms or legs even. The police had shut down the area in a huge manhunt just to find the suspects. The website says that the 2 boys who did it had planned the attack on their own and carried it all out by themselves.
Although the attacks happened thirteen years ago, many families are still mourning the deaths of loved ones. There were 2,996 casualties resulting from the attacks including all the individuals on the planes, in the towers, and in the pentagon. Sadly, the mothers, brothers, sisters, and fathers of the people who lost their lives will always remember this day greatly and think back on the memories of their family members. Along with the deaths and sorrow this day brought, there were other lasting effects of this event. Security has since tightened and is no longer an afterthought.

Four days later, on April 23rd, 1995, President Bill Clinton gave a speech addressing this event at the Memorial Prayer Service. In his speech, President Bill Clinton uses pathos to unite the country in a feeling of tragedy and loss.
Security and personal privacy had been breached and became tighter due to the fear of another unexpected attack. This made our personal privacy less private similarly they made airport security much much strict from getting full body scans to interrogation rooms. Right after 9/11 America faced mass deportation, the immigration laws and deportation had been on a rise in the co-relation with the 9/11 attack. The last but not least change that was made by 9/11 was the beginning of everything bad. The war declared to fight against terrorism without any solid ground of proof was the beginning of the clash between the west and the east it had ignited sparks between the regions and created the terrorism that we face today.
All of these events demonstrated that al-Qaeda could carry out terrifying attacks thousands of miles away from its base in Afghanistan. Al- qaeda’s leaders did not care about their gruesome actions. In their minds, God was on their side so they could do no wrong. Many people to this day still question our government about the 9/11 attacks and why someone did not take action before it got to this point.
These attacks, though unwanted, have helped to aid and further develop who we are as a country. After those attacks, our attitude on terrorism changed. It used to be that we thought we were untouchable, that no one could mess with us or even stand up to us. We had defaulted and they had taken us down but this was the dawn a momentous change in the United States. This new America took measures to protect its citizens by having people be scanned and patted down before going on planes, surveillance becoming tighter and stricter, and deportations being at an all-time
