Personal Narrative: My Experience At Gladbrook-Reinbeck High School

Many different leadership positions are available at Gladbrook-Reinbeck High School, giving students a wonderful opportunity to get involved in something they enjoy. There are even various places to take internships, including outside and inside of the school district. I’ve taken part in a few of these wonderful opportunities, including becoming a leader in choir, managing boy’s track, and being a teacher’s assistant through an internship at my high school.
At the end of my freshman year in high school, I was elected to take a leadership class, making me able to lead a part in our choir the following year. Both years I have helped in foreign language, more specifically, Spanish classes. My junior year was basic; I would grade papers and help organize things around the classroom. This year, as a senior, I have grown more confident with the language and have been able to help the students that are struggling with translations. Serving as help around the classroom, doing a lot more to actually assist the teacher if a student seemed to be struggling. I’ve even helped decorate the classroom and keep books organized and in good shape.
Each year during high school at Gladbrook-Reinbeck I have engaged in some leadership opportunity. This was something that I enjoyed experiencing, especially in a school as accommodating to mine when it comes to a student’s interest in a major; mine specifically being secondary education. The leadership, management, and teacher assistant roles have definitely helped me grow as a person as well as allow me to gain plenty of hands-on experience in the education department.
