Many different leadership positions are available at Gladbrook-Reinbeck High School, giving students a wonderful opportunity to get involved in something they enjoy. There are even various places to take internships, including outside and inside of the school district. I’ve taken part in a few of these wonderful opportunities, including becoming a leader in choir, managing boy’s track, and being a teacher’s assistant through an internship at my high school.

Both years I have helped in foreign language, more specifically, Spanish classes. My junior year was basic; I would grade papers and help organize things around the classroom. This year, as a senior, I have grown more confident with the language and have been able to help the students that are struggling with translations. Serving as help around the classroom, doing a lot more to actually assist the teacher if a student seemed to be struggling. I’ve even helped decorate the classroom and keep books organized and in good shape.
Each year during high school at Gladbrook-Reinbeck I have engaged in some leadership opportunity. This was something that I enjoyed experiencing, especially in a school as accommodating to mine when it comes to a student’s interest in a major; mine specifically being secondary education. The leadership, management, and teacher assistant roles have definitely helped me grow as a person as well as allow me to gain plenty of hands-on experience in the education department. I have worked to expand my leadership skills at the district level in budgeting, leadership, project management and application of Career and Technical Education (CTE) initiatives, aligning frameworks, connecting with Middle School programs, Advisory Committees and Technology Initiatives. One of the most important leadership roles I’ve had is being Editor and Chief of the Yearbook, The Pinnacle, committee at Pikesville High. Being the Editor and Chief requires creativity, communication, collaboration, patience, and responsibility. Prior to becoming the Editor in Chief I was just a part of the committee for two years. My sophomore year was my first year in Yearbook and I was just learning about the in’s and Out’s about how to create a successful yearbook. I learned all the fundamentals like how to interview people and how to write interesting stories called Body Copy’s for any sport, club, or event.
Through the experience of working as youth leader for freshman connection I have grown as a better leader. To help incoming freshman was incredible experience for me. I joined freshman connection to serve school and defiantly to get knowledge and team building skills out of it, so that it can help me make my college experience better. I think I have achieved all the goals that I wanted to through working as youth leader. Additionally, not only that but also to work on community service project on bullying has really allowed me to serve as teacher helper.
Through the National Student Leadership Conference, I will be marching out of my comfort zone and learning qualities that will aid me in becoming a better leader. In my school there are numerous leadership opportunities, from being class president, to being a house captain, to planning a school wide event.
As I traveled through each grade of the Croton-Harmon High School, my personal and academic goals helped to me to really flourish. These goals may have varied from year to year because a freshman is a little different from a senior, but they basically had all the same concept: I wanted to strive in school to be the best all-around student I could be, constantly stay focused and immerse myself in the Croton community. By setting my expectations and goals very high, I could flourish academically and really work to my full potential. By following these goals in school I pushed myself very hard and tried to take classes that would challenge me as well as help me to flourish as a student.

I don’t have much management/leadership experiences but the little I do have is being a manager at the tanning salon I recently worked for and also being cheer co-captain when I was in high school. Being a manager for the tanning salon I had to make schedules weekly and making sure everyone knew what time they were working and also working around their personal schedules, training new workers, and making sure the tanning salon was stocked up on all the things needed. There are many reasons I believe I should be inducted into National Honors Society. First, I maintain an A grade average. Second, I am a leader in my school and community. Third, I am very active with actives in and out of school. These are all great qualities to have.

I led twenty-two students during their first year of college to provide them success as students. I co-taught a class that focused on study skills, UNK resources, and involvement on campus. My ability to communicate and adapt to the diversity of the class was shown through creating different learning activities to employ in the classroom. I exemplified team work by collaborating with another instructor. Through my experience as a Peer Academic Leader, I was able to hold two counseling sessions with each student per semester to provide myself as a resource.

Six years ago, I made the life-changing decision to join my local 4-H club. At the time, I didn’t realize just how valuable this experience would be and what an impact it would have on my life.
I have been blessed with many great opportunities in the past three years to serve and increase my leadership skills. I have played soccer for my high school, and was voted Team Captain of the varsity team by my teammates. I absolutely loved growing closer to each one of those girls, and being an example to them both on and off of the field. In high school, I have balanced my membership in eight different clubs.
Over the last few weeks, leadership class has succeeded in getting me to think deeply about my life, who I really am and who I hope to be. This is good because it helps me put proper measures in place that will help me accomplish those goals. A servant leader, as we have discussed in class is one who is servant-first. His main aim is to serve his people and do what is best for the people around him, whether he is in a leadership position or not.
