My trip to Pearl Harbor was a pretty remarkable experience that I will always remember, not only did I learn more about the attack of Pearl Harbor itself but I witnessed the magnitude of an effect it had on the country. It was very humbling to be there, and to see the different ships and to walk into the museums and to talk to the staff. This trip did not change my life in a crazy way, but it did give me insight on patriotism and how much respect we have for fallen soldiers. My trip to Hawaii was less than a year ago and I knew going to Pearl Harbor was a thing we had to do. Walking to the entrance I noticed how clean everything was. This was not a usual tourist spot, it was very quiet and everyone there wanted to learn as much as they could and truly ponder about the tragic event that happened there. It was a very special place, different from anywhere I have ever been. Visiting Pearl Harbor showed me the scale of everything, the ships were enormous and they carried thousands of men, and there were multiple of them in this one small area. I was able to go inside one of the ships walk around the whole ship, seeing the soldiers bunks and tight living quarters. The ships were massive but everything inside was compact and tight, most of the hallways were less than two people …show more content…
Being able to pay respects to the brave people who lost their lives so abruptly that day and being able to learn more about what happened, what happened, and why it happened really put things into a different perspective for me. Before going I knew a little about Pearl Harbor but being there I learned so much from the little museum they had and also from the very informed staff. It was a very moving experience, It was the first time I have ever been to something like that and it really took me by surprise. It was very memorable, I will always remember and treasure the experience I got from going to Pearl
Visitors then advance to the Assembly Room. Britton describes the Assembly Room as, "a long room with windows on both sides. Here, the USS Arizona can
December 7, 1941 is considered one of the most impactful days in United States’ history: the day Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Despite their size, Japan left an incredible amount of damage with their 5 submarines and 408 planes. President Roosevelt had been avoiding scuffling with Japan since their pact with Germany and Italy; war with Germany was sure to erupt soon enough. However, soon after the ambuscade, the United States’ declared war on Japan and launched their involvement in World War II. Japan’s leaders recognized the risks of invading one of America’s naval bases; yet they persisted.
It is 8 am, December 7, 1941. Everything is peaceful at U.S. Naval base Pearl Harbor near Honolulu, Hawaii. Until, suddenly, Japanese bomber planes filled the air and chaos ensumed. Unsuspecting ships were relentlessly attacked. A bomb crashed through the deck of warship USS Arizona.
Gunner drifted off to sleep after coming home from Cameron’s birthday party. Gunner woke up in Hawaii! “Yes”, Gunner thought, but then he had a sad realization. It was December 7, 1941… The sun had risen in the east, and the orange sun reflected beautifully with the blue of the harbor.
Former United States Representative, Joe Baca, states, “Pearl Harbor caused our Nation to wholeheartedly commit to winning World War II, changing the course of our Nation’s history and the world’s future.” What this quote purposely left out was how the United States needed a way out of the Great Depression. The only way out of the depression was war. Even with all the acts and plans Franklin D. Roosevelt put forth, none would truly be able to turn the economy around. Pearl Harbor was an emotional time for America; however, it was also an extremely key time for the American Government.

‘We have only awoken a sleeping giant.’ That is what is believed that one Japanese official told another minutes after the attack on Pearl Harbor on 1941. On a sunny Sunday morning, December 7, 1941, the Empire of Japan carried out a surprise attack on the U.S Pacific fleet in Hawaii. After a few hours, more than 3000 Americans were killed, almost 300 U.S planes destroyed and several U.S destroyers and ships as well. This was the event that finally caused the U.S to join the fight against the axis powers in WWII.
The disaster of pearl harbor Pearl harbor was horrible disaster that shocked everybody in the world and had a huge impact on everybody that was around. Some people thought was the safest and largest navy base in the world was proved wrong. A day when the battleships floated tall above the ocean with not a worry in the world now lay rested on the bottom of the sea bed along with thousands of navy men who fought for their country during the attack of pearl harbor. Pearl harbor was a stepping stone that led to the united states to enter in world war ll.
I knew that it would be sad but I didn’t realize it would affect me so much. When you enter the museum you walk down some stairs into the main area and in the center there is a room. I walked around the perimeter of the museum first and there are many pieces from the event that you can view and see pictures of. There are remnants from the crash of the towers, from the motor of one of the express elevators to the segment of a radio and television antenna and a first response fire truck that got crushed when the building fells. Not one firefighter in that company survived.
While staying the day at the campgrounds my family and I would go hiking, swimming, out to eat and visit tourist destinations in that area. As my family and I entered Arizona it was eye opening. It was very shocking to see that palm trees actually existed it Arizona. This event was of particular significance because it provided me
In my opinion taking this trip and hearing that story has changed my life for the better. Over the years after hearing more stories from veterans about their escapades into enemy territory, and their struggles when returning home, I have a new level of empathy for those who serve our country. In my adult life I would like to work with veterans and the VA to help ease their transition back into civilian life. Also I will work with my local congressman or woman to get legislation passed that will help veterans get a leg up especially when they are their most vulnerable. I think it is ridiculous that large portions of homeless people in our country are veterans, as they did a job that few others in the country would volunteer to do.
Attending the Civil Right Museum was a very enjoyable experience. The staff at the museum was very helpful, courteous, and offered a lot of insight about the exhibits. I could tell that they were educated about the issues of oppression that African American faced. The exhibit were very detailed, such as the sculpture were life like and the audio and visual displays seemed to almost take you back to those times, so attending these types of museums is often a very emotional experience for me. This museum in particular was hard for me to be in because Martin Luther King was actually killed there, so I felt overwhelmed at that thought and did not even view the room he was in prior to his death nor did I go into the room were the shots were fired that took his life.
¨Everybody knows about Pearl Harbor. The thing that really fascinated me is that through this tragedy there was this amazing American heroism¨(qtd. in Brainyquotes). These are the thoughts of director Michael Bay whenever he thinks about the topic of Pearl Harbor. The attack on Pearl Harbor occurred on December 7th 1941 in a multi wave attack.
I am so grateful that I went to Fort Pierce, because I planted a seed of hope for that lady and others. That World Changers trip was a huge blessing to me, and I will never forget that young lady and my experience there. I strongly encourage people to go, it will change their look on life
